### Description 描述:
In contemporary economical expansion, America federal and banks, giant tech corporations have managed to maintain their colonial forces to govern the accessibility and distribution of resources. The rise of China economic power, though operating in a different regime, also follows and adopts similar capitalistic, centralized and advanced (computable) machines, in which the invisible hand exploits ecologies and alienates labors. The economy trade bloc further demarcates the nowaday island states and territories of the Pacific.
However, many people have lived and traversed through the sea, between islands, coastlines, and cities for over two thousand years. Taiwan as the northeast Austronesians and Hong Kong 蜑家 Dang-Chia as “ocean peoples” viewed the world as “a sea of islands” rather than “places along the continent”. With the history and development of port infrastructure, it is not surprised that bartering and piracy on material and intangible wealth were the precursors to the monetary system.
Through Forkonomy(), we are interested in rethinking the politics of our contemporary economic and technical-cultural systems. By employing free and open source software and decentralized protocols, we set the participatory project as a commoning ship for people of the pacific who want to queer the matters of hierarchies, ownership, gendered labor division, as well as to fight against the constant threats of maintaining a high degree of autonomy regarding the land and the sea. Forknomy() shall sail the economy and autonomy into a queer ocean of freedom and the sea of commonwealth.

# Workshop

**Why choosing South China Sea as a figurative and pirated object (of study) to think about forkonomy, digital commons and piracy?
Rethinking the politics of our colonial and capitalized economy: As South China Sea is one of the most debatable sea areas, reflecting the power struggles between Philippines, Borneo, Vietnam, and China.
It is also a place for military operations, rehersals and practice, showing off the power of a country and simutaneously creating threats on invasions. But it is more than power dynamics within Asia, in which USA is another involved player to develop and secure the network with other alliances and to continously impose influencing power in the region.
All in all, the sea gives an enormous trade value, military value, and world power.
other note: The politics of naming and ownership: "Beijing and most other countries know it as the South China Sea. Hanoi calls it as the East Sea and Manila refers to it as West Philippines Sea."
:::
:::spoiler Buying/Owning/licensing 購買/擁有/擁有權
It is inevitable to address ownership (in terms of who is owning South China Sea now, and how to own it as this is the available resource). People who will buy/own the sea will then sign a contract in our workshop/performance which serves as the evidence of their transaction and ownership of South China Sea.
But this also gives us a chance to rethink the eonomic model of buying/owning, and to problematize the act of buying involves more fundamental political issues, including licensing, what forms of ownership, transfer of ownership, beneficals, and many other details regarding terms and conditions. (we are especially interested in creative common licencing, FreeArt Licenses and the translation of land to sea contractual terms)
:::
:::spoiler Indigenous territory issues 小數民族領土問題
Indigenous territory issues have not been resolved within the contemporary economical expansion. Historically, the government has showed their regime by violently or decietfully forcing indigenous people sigining land contracts, or by putting tax on the land or on the use of the land. What about the sea? Many people have lived and formed their economy circles on/around the sea, yet, the idea behind the sea-ownership seems still a copy-paste of how we own the land, and still a place where the national power fight with each other.
:::
:::spoiler Commonweath/Commoning 聯邦/共享
One milliliter of the South China Sea water then will be shipped to buyer's place. The project expects that by having as many people buying one milliliter of the South China Sea, the sea will eventually become an ocean of "commonwealth".
But this also raises issue in terms of how to maintain the 'resource'/'asset', and this is related to communities (if you think about the nature of water and it is difficult to separate the 'unit' in reality, then what forms of 'code of conduct' (using the feminist approach) for everyone to ensure it will be operated in a fair, open, diverse and more equal fashion? How to run a queer economy?

**TzuTung Lee** is a Taiwanese conceptual artist. Her/Zer works focus on how one can survive and regain autonomy through their identities, with a special focus on the hegemony of Chinese Sino-centrism, the trauma of modernity, and the current epistemological injustice. She/Ze experiments how art practice can test and decolonize the contemporary form of art, technology, and authorities. Tzu Tung has participated in several political groups, and also organized Tinyverse co-op, building the network for transdisciplinary conversations. More: www.tzutung.com
