Independent ships!
All ships mentioned here count as independent ships, even if they originally come from the Federation (ships labled USS) or the Romulans like the Vi'dar and Vi'dar Talios. This means, they do not score in events that expressedly ask to use faction ships. Same is also true for Envoy, Horizon, and many more ships also from FKR faction stores, e.g. Nova und Selkie.

Why? Because the Borg Cube is one of the strongest ships long-term, and enabled good research bonuses.

Short: Cutting Beam → Technological Distinctiveness → Shape Memory Alloy and Advanced Cybernetics

Official material from Scopely: đŸ‡Ŧ🇧 Scopely Help Center and đŸ‡Ŧ🇧 Borg Cube Feature Spotlight

  1. Destroy hostiles using the Cube's Cutting Beam for Technological Distinctiveness
  2. Convert Technological Distinctiveness in the Support refinery to
    • Shape Memory Alloy → material for improved ship components
    • Advanced Cybernetics → material for Ex-Borg research
  • With the Binary Cutter skin, the Cutting Beam's maximum charge is doubled, so it can be used twice before it needs recharge. That effectively double the amount of possible hull damage.
  • The Cube's Transwarp Coil needs Borg Data Nodes
    • Available tier depends on your progress: the most advanced FKR faction ship
(see table below; original at startrekfleetcommand.com)
    • Skipping of tiers is possible; missing Transwarp Coils are granted when a higher grade ship reaches its tier requirement. Skipping of the epic G4 ships is especially recommended as they are excessively expensive.
Specifically: If you are skipping the Enterprise-A, but build a Northcutt later, you will receive two Data Nodes when the Northcutt reaches tier 6 (one for the skipped Enterprise-A, one for the Northcutt). Same, but different: Skip a Valdore by going from Augur to Pilum (Tier 6).

  • unlocks new Ex-Borg favors in their faction store
  • has a Picard refit enabling a stat boost and a free daily claim bundle: Zweites Delphic Expanse Travel Token, parsteel, tritanium and dilithium
  • has a ship ability Long Road Ahead that can reveal a system's FOW1 for a short period, given you've been there at least once before.
    • Each use consumes 1.000 NX-Isolinear Arrays
    • Each day 1.000 Arrays can be redeemed from ship resources gifts

    • Ex-Borg Credits of higher rarities can be converted into lower rarity ones (Tradedown); if you urgently need common credits but only have uncommon, rare etc.
  • From Ops level 40 and 22.500 Ex-Borg faction reputation
  • Xindi-Reptilian Warships have three abilities
    • Xindi Weaponry, a particle beam that deals lethal damage at the end of each round – countered only by Ex-Borg Favor Particle Beam Delay
    • Blade's Tip, allowing them to bypass our shields entirely so all damage goes to ship hull directly – countered by Ex-Borg Favor Emergency Protocol and Combat-Research Immortal Shield Mitigation Reduction
    • Doomed Species, reducing our critical hit damage (e.g., by 500 %) – countered by Ex-Borg Favor Critical Floor

      • Vi'dar Talios (huge cargo capacity, see Crews)
      • Pilum (ship ability to increase hostile loot)
      • in principle many G4 and all G5+ ships – mind cargo capacity
      • ⚠ as soon as you can use alternative ships, the Mantis specific Starships research becomes obsolete – thus, the Actian Venom invested into research
  2. Only for Mantis: Acquire buffs
    • Destroy one each of the Actian Chrysalis having following icons behind their name

      2. â–ŗ – increases critical damage by 50 %
      3. đŸ”Ĩ – increases number of shots by 100 %
  3. Destroy Actian Apexe with a buffed Mantis or alternative ships for Actian Venom
    • As traveling costs tokens, goal is maximising loot per token/hull
    • When ships become powerful enough you can switch over crews from hostile to cargo specialisation
  4. Convert Actian Venom in the Mantis refinery to
    • Synthetic Nitrium for improved ship components
    • Synthetic Ion fÃŧr Starships research (mind above note on research obsolescence)
    • XP for the Orion Syndicate
    • Condensed Venom for the Mantis' Sting ability, weakening opponent ships and preventing them from going to warp
    • Hull Fragments → convert to Strange New Worlds crew officer shards, or Transporter Patterns respectively
  5. Daily Task: Debuff 2 or 4 player ships for Hull Fragments

Mirror Universe (vs Terran Empire)

Why? Apex Barrier game mechanic and other very powerful upgrades through MU research tree.

Official material from Scopely: đŸ‡Ŧ🇧 Scopely Help Center and đŸ‡Ŧ🇧 M67 Patch Notes

  1. Receive 900 free MU Entry Vouchers every 3 days (and more from the store)
  2. Travel to the Mirror Universe (located below Klingon space)
    • Entry Rifts are in Mirror Alpha Centauri, Mirror Wolf or Mirror Sirius
    • Entry cost is 300 MU Entry Vouchers, lasts 20 minutes (using a Extract Rift doesn't cost vouchers)
    • Further down systems require the right rarity-specific Mirror Rift Keys from the MU refinery:
      • Common, 100 per travel
      • Uncommon, 100 per travel
      • Premium (which can bypass systems), 40 per travel

      • Basic resources (Parsteel, Tritanium, Dilithium, and their ÎŖ pendants)
      • Forbidden Technology improvement material
      • NX-01 officer shards
      • MU Vouchers and Rift keys → travel the MU
      • Mirror Dust → unlock nodes in the MU research tree
  • There is NO protected cargo, neither in PvE or PvP → ship destroyed = cargo lost,
i.e., to bring back resources you must use an Extract Rift or let the counter expire
  • Again, travel to, through, and out of the MU systems only by using Interphasic Rifts, being destroyed or letting the counter expire
  • Advancing to deeper systems does not reset the counter
  • Premium resources are currently exclusive to events in-game and the store

Silent Enemies

Why? Temporal Disruptor Parts.

Short: Destroy Silent Enemies → Temporal Disruptor Parts → Temporal Disruptors → Temporal Artifact shards

  1. Look up which grade of Temporal Disruptor Parts you can currently exchange:
    • depends on your Ops level, i.e. you cannot redeem too low or too high grades of shards
    • in the Gifts Artifacts section, the Exchange cover tile will tell you directly
For example, at Ops levels 61-62: "6⭐ Uncommon Temporal Exchange"
  2. Destroy Silent Enemies that drop the correct grade of shards for you
    • 4⭐ Uncommon → Aethera Nova
    • 4⭐ Rare → Orinthus Prime
    • 5⭐ Uncommon → Valtara Minor
    • 5⭐ Rare → Lyrae Nebula, Sylphira Delta
    • 6⭐ Uncommon → Aquinelan Star
    • 6⭐ Rare → Korolios Void, Zephyrion Axis
  3. In the Gifts Artifacts section, exchange Temporal Disruptor Parts into
    • Temporal Disruptors → level up Temporal Artifacts
    • Ship Parts → improved ship components
    • Prime Orbit Medallions → unlock Prime researches

and Rogue (vs Eclipse)

Why? Currently only perihperally relevant, but the Outlaws offer some good research bonuses.

Short: Eclipse Security Codes → Eclipse Armada Directives → Exchange Loot → Uranium → Stella Particles → Stella Bonus → Ship Parts and material

  1. Destroy Exchange Transports in Exchange Space for Eclipse Security Code (Systems from Exchange Central and beyond)
  2. Convert Exchange Security Codes and Decoded Data in the Rogue faction store to
    • Eclipse Armada Directives
    • Rogue Credits
    • Rogue reputation (maximum at 30 M)
    • Outlaw Warp Tokens (store name; look for Rogue Transwarp Cell in inventory) for G3 material systems (Mitchum, Van Cleef, Doniphon)
  3. Destroy Eclipse Armadas for Exchange Vault Loot → convert in Rogue faction store to Uranium (uncommon, rare and epic)
  4. Upgrade the Stella with Uranium, and then scrap it. The right time for scrapping depends on your progress in Outlaw research: It boosts the Stella, so it can defeat stronger armadas, yielding more loot and, such, Uranium. Initially you can scrap some Stellas at level 10, then at level 25. Eventually you'll only scrap it at level 45.). Scrapping yields
    • Stella Particles for Outlaw research (160 total levels over all research nodes; the number of unlocked levels is called M-Score, and is capped at M160)
    • Stella Hull Scan → convert to 100 Stella blueprints to build a new Stella
  5. In the Rogue faction store buy with Rogue Credits
    • Mudd's Company crew officer shards
    • Outlaw Research Credits
    • Missions (their rewards are not worthwile though – unless you are interested in the story)
  • Further options in the Rogue faction store are to
    • convert Stella Particles to Stella Bonus and gas/crystal/ore
    • convert Stella Bonus to G4 ship parts
  • Achieving milestones in the Apex events yields Apex event store rewards
    • Eclipse Heist Tokens → convert to G4 ship parts, officer badges or Contraband Chips and officer shards
    • Rogue Event Trohpies → convert to G3/G4 material and resources or Apex Research Medals for Station and Outlaw Apex research
    • Contraband Chips → convert to Hijacked Mayflower/D3 class/Legionary ship blueprints

    • Gravimetric Torpedos are countered by obtaining the Talios' Foresight buff beforehand – each Talios with Foresight reduces the ability's damage by 12 % (cumulative).
    • Obtain the Foresight buff for your Talios by defeating a Borg Solo Armada; it lasts 1 hour
    • The Vi'dar Talios itself is not required to participate in the Solo Armada to obtain the buff
  7. Convert Vinculum Fragments to
    • Charged Nanoprobes
    • Active Nanoprobes
    • Unimatrix 12 officer shards
    • Borg Solo Armada Directives
    • Vi'dar Talios Loot Exocomp
  • To tier up the Vi'dar Talios' Impulse Engines a Transwarp Coil is required that is bound to Operations level:
    Transwarp Coil Tier Operations level
    1 35
    2 36
    3 38
    4 40
    5 42
