Phaserhawks Netiquette - or, how to HAWK

  • We use Discord for chatting, knowledge sharing and voice communication.
    (join via https://discord.gg/TqrShCUpYv)
  • As a team at HAWK we adhere to the Rules of Engagement (RoE) of STFC server 178.
  • Ships of alliances in allied/friendly/civilian status should not be attacked.
  • We operate as laissez-faire.
This means we are part of an alliance but all have different ambitions, priorities and goals. We still work together as a team for the greater good of the HAWK alliance.
  • We actively support and protect fair and inclusive play for players of all Ops levels in HAWK.

Chat

in game and in Discord:

  • Active participation is highly encouraged and valued.
Join conversations where you feel comfortable doing so.
  • It is expected to reply to direct messages from the Admiral and Commodores.
  • No politics, hate or racism.
  • No insults or disrespect, also regarding players outside of our alliance.
  • The Commodores are happy to support with any alliance concern.

Territories

  • Numerous and regular participation in HAWK territory battles is strongly encouraged.
  • Systems with resources of grade 1-2: Free mining, as long as there are free nodes.
  • Systems with resources of grade 3-6: One ship per player and system. No inactivity on empty nodes.
  • During first week after territory reset (every 3 months), the grade 3-6 rule applies to all systems.
  • Inactivity (empty mine, full cargo hold) is undesirable in frequented systems.
Ships that are on mines should be checked regularly to make sure they are still active. When your ship has finished mining either reset or move your ship. This allows other players to use the resource.

G4/G5/G6 Material Nodes (Gas, Crystal, Ore)

Territories with G4 and higher material are different as there are only few mines, and many HAWKs need them for completing faction mining daily goals.

  • Nodes are for daily goals mining only.
  • Clear the mine after completing Federation daily goals mining.
  • Stock up on material in free space, not in territory.
  • It is your responsibility to check your ship's activity.
  • Anyone found repeatedly being inactive on a mine or stockpiling excessively will be suspended from the territory for an appropriate period.
  • Inactive ships one mines will be cleared = destroyed by commissioned allies.
  • Clearing by commissioned allies is not considered a RoE violation.

G4, G5 and G6 nodes are time limited resource in territories. Mines should be used fairly allowing all HAWKs to complete their faction mining daily goals. โ†’ Once you have completed these goals please move your ship for someone else to use the mine.
Material that is needed as a resource and not for daily goals can be mined in other space.

Armadas

  • We do not disturb, interrupt or hijack armadas of other alliances.
  • Do not start armadas during HAWK territory battles, and the 15 minutes before.
  • Appropriate ships and armada crews are expected unless explicitly stated otherwise. For example:
    • Normal armadas: 5/6/Khan, or Voyager crew, or Sisko crew, or Picard crew
    • Eclipse armadas: Stella with Riker/Kirk/Spock, also with Captains Sisko or 5
    • Borg Expansion Cubes: Vi'Dar Talios with Foresight Buff
    • Cardassian armadas (uncommon/green): Gaila on the bridge,
e.g. with 5/6, and armada starters with Picard/Beverly or Pike/Moreau
      remember, green = Gaila
    • Formation Armadas: Multiple ships of the same player only for backup, or reaching the necessary strength of the armada.

Armada calling

Most armadas are organised by calling in the alliance chat. This allows lower Ops players to participate in larger armadas.

  • Examples of how to call an armada:
    • +starter
    • omw starter (i.e., "on my way to" starter)
    • uw starter (i.e., "unterwegs", omw in German)
    • etc.
  • Starter names can be abbreviated when calling.
Yet due to a game client bug short messages are sometimes not displayed, like a standalone + or uw. โ†’ Longer is better, use at least 4 characters. Abbreviate the starter's name in a recognizable way.
  • Do not send ships without calling, or without agreement in already fully registered armadas.
Doing so is considered reckless play and unacceptable as it can push players out who have already committed to the armada.
  • Calling does not entitle to an armada slot (see next point).
  • Players in Ops 30s or 40s don't need to attend level 50+ armadas, and vice versa.
Especially if ships are too weak or massively overpowered, crews are wrong, etc.
  • Armada starters determine who is allowed to join their armada.
For example they may exclude a ship if it is not powerful enough and the armada needs more strength. It is polite and fair to state why you are excluding someone from an armada so they may know why and learn from this.
  • We strongly recommend and encourage active starring of players (โญ) to support fair play and those who call first.
