DAOHaus <> Arbitrum Invoke App Proposal

tags: Proposals invoke

Overview

Arbitum has demonstrated support for DAOhaus with a 75,000 $ARB airdrop.

With the security guarantees of Ethereum, low costs, and fast transactions this network has immense potential for DAO capabilities. The growth in DeFi on this L2 is impressive. These protocols have significant treasuries and would benefit from Moloch governance.

Problems

Digital communities on Arbitrum are unaware of the benefits of hard-governance.

The current summoner app demo at summon.daohaus.club exposes all potential variables for initializing a DAO and can be overwhelming for inexperienced users. As a result, some of the options can lead to less than optimal settings that affect DAO's operations.

Opportunity

Create a summoning app that reduces resistance in deploying DAO contracts on the Arbitrum network. Make it fast for organizations to get started and easier to understand the basic configuration.

There is a need for a Moloch v3 DAO launching tool that provides an easy way to create safer initial DAO setups. While showing what is possible with the DAOhaus stack we may also share why these decisions are important.

Once deployed, provide links to connecting with DAOhaus for administration and support, and Bootleggers for customization.

Solution

Our proposed solution creates a wizard walking users through the summon transaction and providing more context and education on each field they need to fill out. We will default some advanced fields and provide suggestions to other fields to ensure that sensible and safe values are used, reducing complexity for users.

The following are the specific steps needed to achieve our proposed solution:

  1. Design and develop a user-friendly stepper form guiding users through the DAO launch process.
  2. Default some advanced fields and provide suggestions for other fields to ensure that sensible and safe values are used.
  3. Provide more detailed next steps after summoning to help setup DAO operators for success and engagement.
  4. Test the stepper form with a group of users to ensure that it is easy to use and effective in creating safer initial DAO setups.
  5. Iterate on the design and functionality of the summon wizard based on user feedback.

Expected Outcome

The proposed Moloch v3 DAO launching tool will result in increased DAO summonings on the Arbitrum network. The easy-to-use wizard will guide users through the process of creating safer initial DAO setups by providing more context and education on each field they need to fill out. This, in turn, helps promote engagement and success among DAO operators, and ultimately contributes to the growth of the DAO ecosystem.

Documenting this process allows us to set an internally facing precedent for how to iterate upon the DAOhaus SDK and formalize best practices for adapting novel builds for targeted use cases.

Lastly, documentation will inform our collective marketing efforts by generating foundational content for disseminating to the wider DAOhaus community. Standardizing this practice and demonstrating a simple procedure will help encourage others to do the same in their own projects.
