# OSLC OP transition
We would like to inform you about the transition the OSLC community is currently undergoing, how it will affect you and how could you participate.
During the OSLCfest 2018, we had a discussion regarding the barriers to participation in the OSLC standardisation activities. The OSLC Steering Committee (StC) promised to investigate possible ways to reduce the barriers to participation. In total, 3 workarounds were proposed (a community group, use of the comments mailing list and a reduced single-contrubutor annual fee) and an option to perform a major shift. The major shift in question involves creating a new OSLC Open Project (under the [OASIS Open Project](https://oasis-open-projects.org/) umbrella) and dissolving the OSLC Member Section (MS). So far, the Open Project (OP) has been the most promising way to enable broader participation.
I expect more discussion over the small yet important details to follow but in this post I would like to discuss how would this shift affect you and how would it *benefit* you.
**I am a current StC member**
If you keep paying your OASIS dues and sign the CLA (Contributor License Agreement) before the end of March 2019, you will be offered a seat on the OSLC OP Project Governing Board provided you are ready to carry out the relevant duties with a *100% discount of the membership fee*. The newly formed PGB would have to assume some of the duties previously carried out by the Technical Committees (TCs) and that would require a familiarity with the specification content.
**I am a current TC member**
If you sign the CLA before the end of March 2019, you will be offered to join the OSLC OP Specifications TSC provided you are ready to carry out the relevant duties. The newly formed TSC will have a less formal structure. Payment of a membership fee would no longer be a prerequisite for joining the TSC and fully contributing to the Open Project.
**I am neither of those and my company is not an OASIS member**
Briefly describe your interested in a reply to [this post](https://forum.open-services.net/t/oslc-open-project-membership/194) on the OSLC forum and ask your boss / legal to sign the CLA. We will then help you to get started.

Please get in touch and we will be happy to help. You will still need to sign the [CLA](https://www.oasis-open.org/resources/projects/cla/projects-entity-cla).
**I don't have any input to the specifications yet but want to have a say in where does the project go**
You can become an OSLC OP sponsor if you pay the [dues](https://oasis-open-projects.org/sponsorship/) and join the Project Governing Board.
