# Warm Up Seminar for Geometric Measure Theory Class by Professor Leon Simon

# 介紹
下學期史丹佛的Leon Simon講座教授會來台大訪問，擔任台大數學系訪問講座，他將於（2018）的3月5號至5月11號開設＂Introduction to geometric measure theory＂(幾何測度論導論)，上課時間是星期一和星期五下午的3:30到5:20，並可能另外安排討論課。Leon Simon教授是世界知名的幾何測度論專家，幾何測度論是一門非常困難但極為有用的工具，近年來被成功的用來解決Willmore conjecture ，正質量定理和許多極小曲面的猜想，也是研究退化型或係數不光滑的方程式的重要工具，甚至被應用到影像處理及數據分析。它主要是用來處理不光滑具singularities的物件。能有幾何大師針對研究生及優秀大學生，從入門開始教授這重要學問，實在是千載難逢的好機會，希望同學能好好把握學習這門課。

# 準備活動

為提早熱身熟悉，讓將來課程進行時大家能有比較好的掌握，首先將安排三位老師演講報告。

1月23日 1:30開始將由謝天長老師及林俊吉老師（師大)分別對幾何測度論給90分鐘的概括性全面介紹。

1月24日10:00開始由沈俊嚴老師用兩個小時大略介紹所需的基本知識。

第一場的學生討論報告從1月24日下午1:30開始。後續的報告討論時間在1月23日在 下午確定。

討論內容（依附件Leon Simon的書）從2-5開始，Chap 1及Chap 2其餘題材請自行準備，背景知識較不足的同學可以額外再組討論群。沈俊嚴老師的演講會簡單介紹這些省略的題材。2-5到2-7是重要的基本內容，同學的報告應該要確實掌握細節，在第一週1/27以前完成。

Chap 3, Chap 4及 Chap 5則採取不同方式，同學的報告著重在定義、定理及相關性質的整體架構，不觸及證明細節，以免進度太慢，並期待先對幾何測度論建立整體認識及感覺。同學閱讀時還是應該瀏覽全部內容，但細節掌握多少則依個人進程，不必強求。希望在討論的第三週2/10前，儘可能完成到Chap 4。Chap 5及Chap 4的剩餘內容，則在開學第一周進行（上課時間及晚上的預定討論時間）。Chap 6以後依同學個人狀況，自行閱讀準備。

除基本知識可以參考Evans-Gariepy的書，較簡單的幾何測度論介紹可以參考Frank Morgan的Geometric Measure Theory，但應注意其名詞及用法與Leon的書有些差異。成大也會安排準備活動，但會較著重在準備的知識，如果有同學寒假在台南。
