# István Márkuly

*István Márkuly* is a teacher of permaculture, lives in Ireland. He helps to organize communities and design and build self-sufficient farming in many countries and various climatic conditions. In his teaching methods, the permacultural approach is not just a horticultural technique, but also a way of thinking, a value system and a community organizing power.
## Short BIO
*Istvan Markuly* is originally from *Hungary* has been living and working in *West Cork* for the past 15 years. His passion for his involvement in local community cooperative projects was to assist others by *teaching and developing education systems* based on permaculture principles available for everyone.
*Istvan* is a *Permaculture Designer*, *Consultant*, *Teacher* and *Local Community Developer*, his experience is expanding through international participation and earthwork management in diverse conditions from wetland to dryland, cold temperate climate, in *Europe* and *Africa*. He completed numerous permaculture training programs and learning, working from internationally regarded teachers including *Warren Brush*, *Paul Taylor*, and *Geoff Lawton*. *István*’s work is focused on the main principles of Permaculture. He is dedicated to helping motivate and inspire others to naturally include these principles in their lives. He is a co-founder of the international *Earth Environmental Education* and *Életfa Permakultúra* in the Hungarian region. Currently runs the project to support the local permaculture community network and demonstration site in *West Cork* Ireland and *Hungary* on cold temperate continental climate.

*Istvan Markuly* is originally from *Hungary* has been living and working in *West Cork* for the past 15 years. His journey in Ireland began by setting up a property maintenance service in *Courtmacsherry*. During this time he specialized in sustainability & developed a local community supported business which focused on 3 basic main elements: *water, food and energy security*.
This leads him to various elements of local community cooperative projects such as *Community Gardens*, *Scool Garden*, *Community Forest*, *Clonakilty Favour Exchange*, *Food Rescue* and various similar projects. His passion for his involvement in all of these designs was to assist others by teaching and developing education systems for everyone.
