### To Do
- [ ] example to do
## August 15th, 2023
### Chair
- Marie Nordin
### Attendees
- Madeline
- Emma
- Nikita
### Agenda
- Creative Freedom Inktober
- From chat: I also had a follow up thought about inktober that we can discuss next week- what if we use the generic inktober prompts that get released and mostly focus on getting folks to tag their art with #creativefreedom and #freesoftware and whatever tool they're using like #inkscape or #krita for example... that way it exemplifies that you can create "regular" art with free software the same as you would with the adobe suite or whatever else
- lower barrier to entry
- up side is it saves us from coming up with our own list
- the down side is this means we would need to create things in October and not in advance
- the main effort would be making art, and promoting the use of the hashtags
- Discussion:
- People like the idea of limiting our work and using the general list
- Madeline points out that Inktober has copyrighted the "Inktober" name
- Emma points out that this is against the idea of free licensing
- idea for the hashtag #freetober
- Nikita points out that we could also show off process ([record in Krita](https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_manual/dockers/recorder_docker.html)) to help people learn to use free software
- Next step for prompt list:
- Take prompts that have been voted on and add them to the "official" ask for review in chat
- Aim to post prompts and promotions first week of september
- Logo idea came up
- Use the summit branding
- Take one of the characters and redraw it in an inky style & pair it with "freetober"
- Nikita to work on this
- Communications
- Inktober HackMD for ideas/guidelines: https://hackmd.io/xqW0HOm_S_CG0XqVjK9tPA?edit
- Marie to finish that up
- Inktober communications plan: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q23MBnlbSsVihu2_VjSjo_S5TjFn-d833wNTs0P1-3A/edit#gid=1981626659&range=A1
- Tweets/mastodon posts
- Emma to work on that
- What should the cadence be?
- Madeline says daily might be nice
- Marie points out that is a lot of effort
- Social post for:
- when the blog post goes live
- a couple days before freetober starts
- the day it starts
- weekly until it ends
- fedora mastodon/twitter - when the blog post goes live
- fedora mastodon/twitter - halfway through freetober
- We need a blog post!
- CommBlog?
- Volunteer to write the post?
- Marie to write this from the guidelines
- We will need a banner design for the post
- Inktober & Creative Freedom Summit themed
- Volunteers?
- Madeline will work on this
- Request a badge? I'd suggest that we propose it in the "content" category versus event
- Marie to open a ticket
- https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/916
- Nikita to work on this
- Creative Freedom Summit
- CfP
- Updates on the CfP platform
- Marie: i got the contact info for the person who organized the fossy cfp but have yet to reach out. wanted to touch base with the team first.
- Communications
- Marie & Emma to meet next week on Tuesday
- Update for the website
- How easy is this? On a tangential note: we had folks who wanted to help with the website last year.. would it be possible to make the barrier to entry easier or understand what we need from folks to get them access quickly?
- CfP Promotion plan:
- We need a CfP blog post!
- Where? Ideas:
- Fedora CommBlog
- Fedora Magazine
- Both?
- We will need a banner design for the post
- Volunteers?
- Creative Freedom Summit branding
- Your agenda item here!

- CfP
- The one that was written for devconf, red hat hosted
- Uses patternfly
- Red Hat OSPO to host for us? runs on openshift
- how was the experience?
- it was just ok.
- does it require reviewers to be red hatters? No
- path of least resistance
- Mo to reach out about CfP server
- OSEM is an option.
- requires hosting and is challenging to set up

- Rephrase bottom quote to use "Fedora Design Team" ("Brought to you by the Fedora Design Team")

- Things were cordial, no CoC issues, friendly & light
-
- What could be improved?
- An intro / orientation video explaining platform with demo of how it should look (Aleksandra's idea)
- Would we want to look at different platform solutions?
- Joseph brings up oncast, could make it more approachable
- Could we make this more approachable
-

- Invite two artists create, competition?
- using the same tool, and swap files
- Pair creation (like pair coding) sessions
- Could do it with the wallpaper

- Could just be showing someone make art
- First one could be at the beginning of April
- I think it would be cool to present at the next Release Party about how it went (we can adapt the FOSDEM preso for this)
- When to kick off for next year
- We started meeting/planning for the 2023 event in October of 2022.
- start end of august/beginning of september
- If we want to do a CfP I think we might want to start a bit earlier

### Agenda
- Format logistics (LinuxRocks PeerTube)

- Yes! Not who they are, but how many, yes. It has a comment feature, not chat. Shows how long people watch, some other stats
- Is there a permanent address for the stream or is it unique for the stream once it starts?
- There are options. We should send people to the channel, not a stream URL.
- Should we allow "attendees" to be a part of the Jitsi session?
- No, this should just be for speakers/hosts.

- Throw out the draw something
- Schedule
- Next step is to draft a schedule and send to speakers for confirmation of availability (Marie volunteers to do this!)
- Should we keep it to 3 days or stretch it out over 4?

- How to measure
- At sign up, ask participants to tell us what community or Fedora team they came from
- Shared project tickets / progress (for cross-team collab measurement)
- Views on YouTube (of any posted videos)
- Registration and turnout on Hopin
- [Long term RFE request maybe?] Lead info on FAS signup... Fedora annual survey has a similar question
