# Summit 2023.1
https://eiffel-community.github.io/summit.html
Software Center has [Reporting workshop](https://www.software-center.se/event/rws_june2023/) on June 15th in Gothenburg. We will co-locate an Eiffel Summit with that.
We could mention the Reporting workshop in our Summit invites, and Software Center might mention the Eiffel Summt in their invites. All people in the Eiffel Community should be accepted to also register for the Software Center Reporting Workshop if they want.
## Dates and times
June 13 09.00 - June 14 17.00
Software Center focused content June 14th 15-17? Update 2023-06-05: We don't see any SC specific people registered for the second day, so we will not adjust the agenda according to such needs.
## Premises
- To be held in doWhile premises and Lindholmen Conference center
- 1 room ~18 people both days, 2 additional room (6-8 and 8-10 persons) on Wednesday afternoon
- The large room has a big table and no lectern. No theater seating.
- doWhile provides fika
- Dinner Tuesday to be organized by someone who knows the surroundings
- Recording? Yes, in some way.
## Accomodations
- In Lindholmen
- Adjacent to premises: https://www.radissonhotels.com/en-us/hotels/radisson-blu-gothenburg-riverside
- 12 min walk: https://www.nordicchoicehotels.se/hotell/sverige/goteborg/clarion-hotel-the-pier/
- Opposite Lindholmen (city centre)
- Adjacent to ferry, 7 minutes ferry to Lindholmen: https://www.nordicchoicehotels.se/hotell/sverige/goteborg/comfort-hotel-goteborg
- Scandic Europa
## Potential Topics
- doWhile (Erik) presents doWhile's thoughts on Eiffel, and potentially also Volvo Cars thoughts/needs
- Security.
- Submission of events with authentication via meta.security; if an event has already been signed, can't we use that information to authenticate the client?
- Expressing confidence in an artifact/product combination.
- See [2023-14-13 community meeting](https://hackmd.io/dpQQOkEeQoC5yV7IpFUYOg).
- Docker image and SBOMs: Can we do something with this in the Eiffel space?
- https://docs.docker.com/engine/sbom/
- Eiffel Vis (https://github.com/ItJustWorksTM/EiffelVis)
- The students working on this are located in Gothenburg
- One or more sessions targeting Software Center visitors who likely are new to Eiffel. Possible sessions:
- Introduction to Eiffel
- DORA metrics with Eiffel
- Q&A
- Visualizations
- Landscape
- This part could also be interesting for other poeple joining an Eiffel Summit for the first time. E.g. Tieto Evry if they are allowed to travel.
- Getting started with Eiffel.
- Update 2023-03-31: This seems to be very interesting from at least TietoEvry perspective. Possibly by demoing Easy2Use on Nordix?
- Source change events.
- Repoman overview and Eiffel challenges (Magnus)
- A proposal for securely submitting events (30 min, Magnus)
- Around the table
- Introductions
- Improved source change events
- The current source change events model an abstraction of what goes on in a source code repository. This is sufficient for some use cases but can pose problems if you want a model that more closely matches reality. Let's continue the discussion around this and the concrete proposal in github.com/eiffel-community/eiffel#261. That aside, with the current events there's no standard way of representing tags.
- Deployment events and DORA metrics
- What can we do with the experimental EiffelArtifactDeployedEvent (https://github.com/eiffel-community/eiffel/pull/322)? Which DORA metrics can we cover with Eiffel?
- General presentation on DORA and deployment events to be prepared by *Erik S*
- What is Eiffel and why should I care?
- Introduction to those who are new to Eiffel.
- Brief descriptions of eco-system incl. SDKs.
- Getting started - documentation & sandbox envs.
- Visualizations
- How can we use Eiffel to visualize CI/CD pipeline, either with generic solutions or highly specialized ones.
- Security, CVEs, and SBOMs
- How can Eiffel be used to address concerns related to security and software supply chains?
- Other potential topics
- Event Repositories - what obstacles do we see? What implementations do we have?
- Event aggregations
- Stream processing?
- New Eiffel protocol editions
- CDEvents vs Eiffel update
- Eiffel deployment on Nordix?
- Align structure of IV with CLM. Today IV only has a bunch of links with some questionable effects like you need to follow three different link types to find the ID. Also CLM probably should have a CONFIDENCE_BASIS as IV has a VERIFICATION_BASIS. Also IV should point to TCT instead of TCF for VERIFICATION_BASIS.
- (Emil) Eiffel Event Protocol Conformance
## Sign-up form
@magnusbaeck will create the form
- Themes - present a ranking table for these topics:
- Improved Source Change events
- Deployment events and DORA metrics
- What is Eiffel and why should I care?
- Visualizations
- Security, CVEs and SBOMs
- General
- Participate physically all days? (bullet list)
- Cannot attend in person but want to attend some presentations virtually?
- Dietary restrictions?
- Affiliation/Company
- Last day for sign-up: May 12
## Agenda under discussion
### General
One-track only!
Approximate times:
- Start-of-day 9:00
- Break 10:30-10:45
- Lunch 12:00-13:00
- Break 14:45-15:00
- End-of-day 17:00
https://eiffel-community.github.io/summit.html
### Online sessions and recordings
- What sessions to record? Set up Teams meetings for those.
- Equipment
- Emil has a camera and a Jabra puck
- Erik makes sure one Jabra puck and a camera is available as well
- We set up one two day reoccuring Teams meeting and keep it open for visitors at all times. It will mainly be used for online presentations and recordings of all relevant sessions. Not intended for chat, since the participants will (probably) not be able to see chats unless they're in the meeting. Configure so external participants don't need to wait in lobby.
### Summit chat channel
- Use a Slack channel during the conference: https://eiffel-workspace.slack.com/archives/C02EKUS4M24
### Stickers
- Emil has 40
- Tobias P has some?
### Lunch
- We don't plan to book one restaurant for all, but instead let everyone go where they want
- https://www.lindholmen.se/sv/dagens-lunch
### Dinner Tuesday evening
- Check the interest on Tuesday morning and appoint someone to check/book location
### Planning team shows up
- At 8-8.30. Erik is there from 8.
## Summit planning

# Feedback from Eiffel Summit 2023.1
## Registration Form
We could ask the participants how they judge their current level of knowledge about Eiffel - Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced - to easier line up the agenda
## General
- Colocating the summit with software center reporting workshop didn't provide any crosspollination. Could be because this was the first time we colocated them.
- Some participants couldn't join since schools ended the same week.
- The event was sold out. How to dimension the location next time?
- What city we choose affects what companies will show up
- During workshops we should have a designated secretary that writes down important things that are said.
## Agenda feedback
- What is Eiffel
- Erik's presentation was really good.
- Event aggregation solution
- Ericsson will look into this further.
- Source change events
- Ericsson to make a counter proposal to aid further discussions.
- Agreement that a source code tag event should be created (there's already an issue for that).
- Submit event securely
- Perhaps document at some point and add to Sepia?
- DORA
- Incident event missing
- Possible topic for community meeting
- CLM
- Create documentation page
