介紹了一種虛擬的網路圖片引擎,藉由公開在網路上的圖片或是資料中的圖片,透過分析圖片的方式將共同特徵的圖片連結在一起並使隱藏在這些圖片背後的非圖形資訊連結在一起,使其能夠被搜尋。
作者的軟體為「seadragon」,是一種虛擬圖片雲的形式(一種類似電子圖書館),將大量圖片以數據的方式呈現,這種呈現方式使使用者可以在非高像素設備上存取清晰的內容(藉由放大縮小),並說明了一些實際應用的場景,例如:一張寫滿了莎士比亞文章的圖片,透過高倍放大的方式存取某一章節的內容(類似Figma桌布的形式),由於圖片完全由數據紀錄,只需要計算使用者設備的對映像素以及倍率即可提供清晰的文字圖片;另一種則是可以在電子書中(文中提到他們可以使用這種技術製作電子書軟體)塞入高解析度的廣告,使用者只須要在感興趣的時候將廣告放大,即可清晰的觀看他們感興趣的內容。
他也提出一種照片連結的情景,假設有大量的遊客對巴黎聖母院拍照,演算法分析這些照片,竟將這些照片拼接,形成一個虛擬的3D巴黎聖母院(不清晰的,只有模糊成像),重點在於,此時如果有人有一張巴黎聖母院的海報(非建築本身),或是手繪圖,他們可以將巴黎聖母院與這張"假的"巴黎聖母院做連結,你可以透過這張手繪圖找到關於巴黎聖母院和與巴黎聖母院有關的圖片與資訊,可以想像會有大量的類似神經叢的結構將這些資料連接在一起。
