    # CnBox Use Cases [TOC] ![](https://i.imgur.com/VXYns5E.png) ## Use Case scenario 1 ### Online Classroom What: A student who has to attend their online classes, through VC (*video conference*) apps, needs to make notes to revisit a lecture for questions or comments, asking for references, link to assignments, share insights. Who: Primary Actor: Student for their personal use How: Uses CnBox to join the VC, they click on the button to start recording choosing the option to save to local storage. This opens up an overlay of tools, to add pins / flags to ask a question, link to assignment, make notes and share with others. The user can chose to backup their local recording to cloud in case they want to view later or share with students. ### User Stories We can add our mirzapur work here 1. trainings conducted online for film making and the outcomes 2. The skit making, annotating comments for producing the final film 3. Sense-making of recordings from listening sessions 4. Enterprenuership and/or finance on conversions (interconnections with category charts) ## Use case scenario 2 ### Community Health Knowledge Hub what: Individuals (Researchers, students) and groups of volunteers of a Health care collective wants to collect and archive stories in the form of Oral Histories from their respective communities. The archive should be made accessible to the community to be able to control the visibility of an entire interview or a part of it needs to be hidden / removed from the stories. Community members should be able to comment, flag, moderate. Researchers should be able to comment, add domain tags, create new links, Add citations and references, export in various formats. Who: Health enterperneurs, Communities, Researchers, Students, Journalists How: The Health entrepreuner records an interview with a elder community member and uploads the recorded audio or video, and annotate in the form of flags, markers (reactions), comments. These annotations will be sent to the web annotations server on the CnBox. ### User Stories 1. As an Interviewer (Health Entrepreuner) i want to upload audio / video recordings and listen or view in a media player so that i can write transcripts, identify sections of the conversation about various categories and label those fragments, ex. "Home Remedy for fever" 2. As an Interviewee (Community member) i want to listen to the audio so that i can review the content and suggest a correction to the "Home Remedy for fever" fragment, add comments, add labels, share fragment. 3. As a Health Entrepreneur i want to filter the audio fragments by category labels, Interviewer, Interviewee, Date, other domain labels and share. 4. As a Researcher i want to browse and filter health knowledge fragments so that i can bookmark, label, comment, cite relevant conversations for my Audio-Visual reportage on Cardiac Health awareness in the community. ### Concrete example We can mention DB as collaborators and piloting papad in that context **health conversation** - an audio of health conversation is ingested to papad web interface of the annotation tool. - participants access the uploaded audio using either a captive portal or wifi hotspot provisioned for the server and tag fragments of it. - a local person identifies a fragment of the audio which effectively indicates "fever" and another one says that there is another fragment which also effectively mentions "fever". - Health enterperneurs who had recorded the conversation forwards the annotations to the research team who are part of the *listening about health* project. - When they receive the annotations the audio and the fragments will be available on the researcher's local server (or a cloud server). The researcher understands and tags it using her own vocabulary. - She and her team can now see other audio and media fragments that are also relavent to fever and flu as interlinked set of media fragments. - A curated hyper-media archive results in each ones space that is assisted by members of the low-literate community. ## Use case scenario 3 ### video conference to a rural village What: A not for profit education institution is working with communities in rural villages to provide tutorials online in various subjects. A tutor from a remote location can coach a student online through VC. A Teenage girls group working on bringing awareness about menstrual health, seeks to learn film making, to produce movies that could help them reach out to their community members, especially women. Who: Non-profits, educators, learners How: The institute found experts in photography, script writing, cinematography etc. and organized online workshops. The students join the online workshop using CnBox. During the sessions, the facilitators used to give short assignments to the students which involved submissions in multimedia and text. The facilitators highlighted the specific sections in the video, to provide feedback, corrections and provoke discussions. The students responded to the feedback on the sections and added their comments. ### User Stories 1. As a student i want to mark highlights while going through a online workshop or course so that i could revise about what i learnt during the session. 2. As a facilitator of film making i want to provide feedback of a frame composition at a particular moment from the assignment so that the student can clearly understand the point. 3. As a film editor i want to mark pauses, cuts and other edit workflows so that i can communicate the same with my team and producers before working on it. 4. .. ### Concrete Example Garima girls skit practise or KiFi workshop In this use case, we assume the city group (Cppl) use laptop for the call and the village group (Vppl) use CnBox (community network in a box) with a screen. - A google meet or zoom meeting is set up from Cppl with Vppl. Vppl use CnBox - a network connected ASPi machine with screen recording setup for recording and annotation. - Cppl record the meeting and mark highlights as minutes. Vppl start local recording using the CnBox and place marker pins to revisit the discussion later. After the meeting - Vppl make the recording available on the local network and community will annotate it further to share their expressions. A select set is shared with Cppl, as messages, along with audio marker fragments. - Cppl can download the meeting recording from the cloud and locate the marked pins using the annotations to reflect and respond. Both Cppl and Vppl can connect these with earlier meetings and other annotated fragments in their resulting hyper-media archives. ## Use case scenario #4 Indexing educational videos. VideoKen like indexing services for 3rd party plugins. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=videoken+iiitb Its another use case and opens auto indexing possibilities based on transliteration and "sounds like so and so" helper services - Also our iiitb nlp work can to help algorithmically assist browsing for similar sounds and who said what and whos who in so and so. ## story telling What: A multimedia studies researcher has collections of media sources on which they have annotated their research specific content to link to new and parallel narratives. A compilation of these fragments are storyboarded and exported as a audio visual presentation. A select set of annotations can be threaded together and decorated further with story narratives. ## map tales Location aware narratives can be podcast on CN mesh radios or smartphones. open.janastu.org/projects/maptales
