DRAFT LETTER INVITE/Presentation
===
Hello dear, I am writing to bring your attention on a creative, cultural and literary project created by women for women.
We chose the name Cosmia, to recall a feminine cosmos and the moths so named, a symbol of adaptation, survival and transformation, nocturnal creatures that orient themselves with the moonlight, considered by folklore to be the souls of fairies and witches.
We are creating an association to deal with the development and implementation of the project; first of all we are forming the team of founding members, which we want to be seven, because seven is the minimum number necessary to bring about a change of paradigm. I thought about you, maybe right now you have the desire and time for a new adventure?
I'll tell you how we got here:
For the past fifteen years I have been working on a novel, The Smiling Oxymoron, and I have finally finished it. Evaluating what to do with it, I thought of self-publishing it and I was wondering how to make it known, at the same time I wanted to use some of its parts to develop multimedia contents that enrich the text and take it further, even beyond my control, by entrusting it to other people.
At the same time my friend Barbara was moving on to the second phase of her #cicatriciebaci project and was thinking about how to make a collaborative book out of it, with her photographs and the stories of the people who initially donated their story; working in the NFT environment of cryptoart and among the founders of WOCA (Women Of Crypto Art) sees the potential of a development in this environment in which the values of ethical self-determination, collaboration in the creation of shareable value and experimentation of customizable and decentralized economic systems are a fundamental part.
Both of us in the last year become part of an international women's movement that has focused our attention on the values of sisterhood and support between women, on the great creativity and creative force of women and on the art of being pioneers and agents of change.
In recent months, within this movement, I have come in contact with an Italian project called L’UNA, a women's network that aims at a new way of doing entrepreneurship based on interchange, inspired by social business.
This set of synergies led to the idea of Cosmia:
• an association that founds a publishing house run by women for women
• a publishing house that publishes paper books with an ethical and ecological supply chain and effective but humane distribution, giving value to the book as an art object even in limited edition
• a digital publishing house that gives the possibility to pass also to the NFT world, both for the text only and by producing other works starting from the text in the Narrandom project.
Narrandom: Narrative + Random -> we want to keep the narrative unfinished and open, so that it can potentially evolve in any direction. Those who join the project give their text or parts of it as inspiration for other artists to produce a metatext of multimedia contributions. These collaborations give life to images, videos, music which can in turn be NFT tokenized.
Although physically located in the south of Switzerland, initially conceived in Italian and in close collaboration with Italy, this is an international and multilingual project, immediately developed in parallel in English and open to other languages.
For our circle of founding members we are looking for women who want to dream big, who have the time and desire to invest in a project that starts with volunteering but wants to become a source of livelihood. We are looking for experience and passion for writing and art, in all their forms, who love the smell of the pages of a book and at the same time see the potential of the evolution of digital publishing. Women who believe in feminine creative strength and sisterhood, to work harmoniously in an atmosphere of comfort and mutual support, respecting the rhythms of each one.
For this first phase, we are working on the structure of the project, building the connections that allow us to carry it out, laying the foundations of the association by writing the statute and discovering the new steps to be taken every day.
We will soon organize an online meeting, I invite you to come and meet us and hear if this adventure is yours too, because I think there may be the spirit of Cosmia in you.
If you want to keep open the option to join the project later, collaborating with the association and the publishing house when they are founded or participating in Narrandom, you are welcome; as well as if you have other forms of support and interaction to offer us that we have not yet imagined.
You can contact us here cosmiaproject@gmail.com or reply directly to this message.
Thanks, a hug
Francesca and Barbara
