  • What We are excited to propose a collaboration with a talented West African former Cirque de Soleil acrobat who has a strong online presence with over 50,000 subscribers on YouTube and almost 250,000 subscribers on Instagram. This collaboration will involve the creator shooting and editing a stunning video and several short form clips to post on their social media platform for the Nouns $200k Video Contest. In addition, promotion of the contest to his audience and other creators will be done in the form of Instagram Posts, Stories and Reels as well as YouTube Shorts. Who Our pending collaboration agreement is with our friend and colleague who makes content featuring exciting acrobatic feats and collaborates with YouTube influencers in the fitness space. • When it comes to sharing creative works online, copyright and intellectual property can be complex issues for creators, brands, and users to navigate. The Creative Commons CC0 license, also known as the "No Rights Reserved" license, offers one solution. For us at Rat Labs, we have long believed that cc0 was the right licensing model for web3. One of the major reasons was because CC0 is as permissionless to use as the foundational web3 technology that represents the IP itself. So, how does it work? First, let’s define it and describe what it is. What is CC0? CC0 is a public domain dedication that allows creators to waive their copyright and related rights to their work, making it freely available for anyone to use, modify, and distribute for any purpose. Developed by Creative Commons, a non-profit organization that provides a range of copyright licenses, CC0 is intended to be a simple and straightforward way for creators to dedicate their work to the public domain. It allows anyone to use and build upon the work of others without worrying about copyright infringement or licensing issues.

  • Gm! Let this be the first “gm” of many more as we are excited to officially announce the launch of our web3 creative agency, Rat Labs. Our mission is to help creators and brands explore the web3 space by leveraging the power of CC0 intellectual property. For many, the transition to web3 represents a significant paradigm shift and has the potential to be even more impactful than social media. Rather than simply another sales channel, web3 presents an opportunity to change the game. Intellectual property can be a complex topic, but we believe that for many brands and use cases, there is a lot of upside delivering web3 products or services that are aligned with IP management practices that are as “permissionless” as the technology itself. While we understand that CC0 is strictly a type of license and not a price catalyst, a big component of our core thesis is the idea that CC0 licensing is a perfect fit for web3 because it allows businesses to unlock value that they may not be able to achieve with other licenses. Closed systems are great for speed and flexibility but we believe many of the largest and most recognizable brands will be CC0 because true hyperscale requires community. Without copyright issues, producers who compete on quality and creativity will thrive while also reaping the benefits of open collaboration and new ideas.
