Member Email Summer 2021

Dear Nordic RSE members,

This is the first Nordic RSE member email. Don't worry, we aren't planning to spam you very often. But we would like to inform you about what we are doing for you and what we have planned.

Annual Meeting
--------------

First, we are announcing the first annual meeting of the Nordic RSE association. The purpose of this meeting is to register the association officially, to make it easier for us to organize events and advocate for our members.

The annual meeting will be on September 2nd 2021 at 14 CEST and 15 EEST. It will take place remotely via Zoom. All members are welcome to attend.

In the meeting we will
* approve the statutes of the association
* select a board
* authorize the board to register the association

The Nordic RSE Seminar Series
-----------------------------

We will start a series of events on research software topics, from seminars and discussions to demos and workshops. It is planned to begin in August, but keep an eye on the website for details.

Please let us know if you have something to present or contribute, if you have suggestions for topics or events, or if there is someone you would like us to invite.

Unconference
------------

We would like to thank everyone who joined the unconference last month, and especially everyone who contributed a topic. Did you take part in any of the discussions? Would you like to help us writing up blog posts about these sessions? We aim to upload these, as well as the videos of the invited talks, to the website in the near future.

SeptembRSE
----------

The Society of Research Software Engineering, our international counterpart, is moving its conference fully online this year and running a series of events in September. Check out the details at https://septembrse.society-rse.org/.

The International RSE Survey
----------------------------

We are working together with the international RSE community on the next RSE survey, with the aim to better understand the environment in which research software is developed. The survey will be launched worldwide some time this summer. We will let you know how to take part and how to advertise it soon.

We hope to see you in the annual meeting in the September.
