NEAR Certified Instructor
1-week course on teaching NEAR Certified programs
This course is an opportunity for experienced teachers and engineers to learn how to present NEAR Certified programs to an audience of their choosing.
Learning outcomes of this course include the ability to
- deliver existing learning modules for any NEAR Certified program, starting with NEAR Certified Developer I & II.
- design new learning modules and submit for review and approval by the NEAR Certification Review Board.

So you want to teach others how to become NEAR Certified?
This is the instructor onboarding experience that will take you through the full range of requirements from facilitation to mentorship and support using the standard NEAR Certified program curriculum. You will learn how to engage with developers in cohort-based learning experiences, answer common questions and even design your own versions of the NEAR Certified programs.
PREREQUISITE NCD I and II certifications are required for this course.

Before we start
Please make sure you are familiar with a few of these basics before the week starts. Although you do not need to be an expert in these technologies, you should have no problem cloning a NodeJS project, downloading its dependencies and running a few scripts.

Overview
Students of course we will practice:
- promoting the vision of web 3 including specific use cases
- answering common questions about web 3 development including challenges
- facilitating cohort-based experiences for students including communication
- designing original experiences targeting web 3 developers
Outcomes
- Anyone holding the NCI certification is welcome to deliver any NEAR Certified course
- Graduates of this program are also eligible to receive funding support the design, development and delivery of original works and variants of the NEAR Certified family of programs provided they adhere to the standards of that course
- NEAR Certified Instructors will be invited to participate in early access programs for future training initiatives as well as contribute to the development lifecycle of new programs.
- Learn to generate new learning opportunities for your students using the full breadth and depth of contributions from the ecosystem. Practice facilitating groups of ambitious developers along their learning journey.
- Explore the state of the art in learning and teaching with a review of the best that modern cognitive science has to offer. Apply these ideas to the challenge of teaching developers using proven techniques.
Eligibility
- MUST have professional software development experience or hold a role as a software engineering instructor at a recognized institution (university, bootcamp, etc)
- MUST complete NCD I & II before attending NCI training
- Relevant professional experience in the chosen certification (eg. web development)
- Relevant teaching experience with cohort-based courses
Schedule
Pre-work
- Some Days Before – [ Course Prep ] (~10-15 hours of content)
Learn to make sense of what is actually going on right now in the larger context of history.
Remote-first Online Course
- day 1: Pedagogy and facilitation for cohort-based instruction in preparation for teaching support with a contribution of your choosing
- day 2: NCD L1 (as a presenter / facilitator)
- day 3: NCD L2 (as a presenter / facilitator)
- day 4: Group retrospective on the NCD program experience
- day 5: Standards and practices of NCI members, next steps
