# Part 1 - Data Collection
# Group 1
1. **Data and Meta Data**
- What types/forms of data do you each work with? Write as many of these down as you can in a list. (e.g., photos)
- csv
- gpx
- xml
- timestamps
- how long it takes to load
- to run
- user input
- user actions
- images
- sensor data feeds
- pose data (position, rotation)
- What would be useful to know about how each of these types of data were collected? (think: Camera brand, field of view)
- where the data comes from
- a particular device or sensor?
- a location
- latitude/longitude
- coordinate system
- the form of the data
2. **How can we balance the ideals of data collection with the practical challenges and constraints often faced in real-world research settings?**
- List some data or data collection practices that you think you (or others) could document better and would be of high value
- Establishing baseline rules before data collection and getting agreement from participants/collaborators before collecting data
- Should only change when new methods or ideas come about
- Codifying those rules
- Usually it's the opposite, data collection and then a description of how the data was collected
- Data costs to store, overcollecting costs more, avoiding collecting irrelevant data that incurs costs
- Engage domain experts
- What form would that documentation take?

# Group 2
1. **Data and Meta Data**
- What types/forms of data do you each work with? Write as many of these down as you can in a list. (e.g., photos)
- LiDAR data, CSV, Text, survey, timeseries, TIFF, HDF5, Virtual reality (spatial position), IMU(intertial measurement unit), Survey metadata (Clients, students, companies)
-
- What would be useful to know about how each of these types of data were collected? (think: Camera brand, field of view)
- LiDAR: Terrestrial lidar system, UAV/UAS (drone), Mobile Lidar system, Satellite LiDAR
- GPS signals: GNSS Receivers
- Virtual reality:
2. **How can we balance the ideals of data collection with the practical challenges and constraints often faced in real-world research settings?**
- List some data or data collection practices that you think you (or others) could document better and would be of high value
- Write out the way you want to analyse, what the variables you need, before collecting the data so you donot miss to collect
- What form would that documentation take?
- Ideally while doing survery of people there is a chance of bias related to specific group of people that we don't want - Cheap talk method to reduce the hypothetical bias
- Data gaps, Outliers are challenges
- Homogeneity
