# FAQ about yearly payment
## What is a yearly payment?
You pay yearly for your HackMD subscription. Yearly payment is available for Prime Personal and Team plans.
A year begins on the day of the yearly payment and ends on the same calendar date next year.
## Why would I pay yearly instead of monthly?
You get a nice discount for paying yearly and the pricing is fixed until the yearly billing cycle ends.
If the subscription of HackMD qualifies reimbursement at your organization, it is much better done once per year instead of per month. That's 91.7% less bureaucracy!
## What are the limitations if I choose to pay yearly?
1. You cannot change to pay monthly until the end of this yearly billing cycle.
2. You can add members to your Team workspace but cannot reduce the number of people on your subscription.
## I've already subscribed to Prime plans before 2022-07-19. Would my plan be affected?
From 2022-07-19, the pricing of Prime Team plan goes back to 8 USD per member per month and the Prime Personal plan to 6 USD per member per month. If you have already subscribed to either of these plans, your subscription will not be affected until canceled.
## I'm paying monthly. Can I change to billing yearly?
Yes, and don’t worry about being charged repetitively. When you change from billing monthly to yearly, the remaining time of that month is deducted from your yearly payment.
You can change to yearly peyment in a monthly billing cycle.

## My Prime Team plan is billed yearly. Can I add or remove members?
Team admins can add or remove members during a yearly billing cycle.
If you remove some team members, you will not receive a refund for the vacant spots. You can invite as many new members as the difference between the current numbers of members to the maximum of members of your team.
If you add new members exceeding the maximum of members, every one of them will be counted against the remaining time of this yearly billing cycle and prorated charged.
>For example, you subscribed to an annual team plan on July 1, 2023, with an initial team of ten members. Your team is on an annual payment plan, with each member being charged $5 per month.
>
>Billing date: the first day of each month.
>The payment is:
>
>$$ $5 \times 10 \times 12 = $600 $$
>
>On 2023-08-01, you add 2 new members to the team. After new members join, the system will calculate the cost for the time they can use in the current cycle by the end of that week:
>
>$$ $5 \times 2 \times 12 \times \frac{11}{12} = $110 $$
>
>Therefore, the system will promptly charge this fee, and you may receive charges or credit card notifications on non-fixed payment dates.
The example above is for the sake of explanation. The actual amount will be prorated to seconds.
## How will you charge me if I add members during a yearly billing cycle?
To lessen the annoyance of payments and invoices, when you are in a yearly billing cycle, we charge the fee for newly added new members weekly.
If you failed twice on this payment, please [contact us](mailto:support@hackmd.io) or your workspace may be frozen.
## Will you issue an invoice when billing yearly?
Yes.
If you add new members exceeding the maximum of members and incur charges, the system will also automatically send an invoice.
## I mistakenly made a payment. Can you refund?
No, we don't offer refunds.
