Anata has long expressed interest in adding support for VRM, the premiere interoperable standard for 3D avatars and vtubing software.
Webaverse and M3 org have deep experience on avatar related subject matter and would be ideal partners to collab with Hologram and Anata to create 1:1 3D avatar files for every character.
This proposal outlines a plan to create interoperable 3D avatar files that can unlock a universe of applications and utility built upon the Anata collection.
We all share a similar vision with Anata for evolving the PFP and aim to strengthen the foundation to execute upon it, together.
M3 and Webaverse have been developing custom builder tools that can help speed things up along the process which perfectly fit alongside this project. These tools would benefit from having users and professionally designed 3D assets to supplement them.
Other forces in this space focused on interoperable avatars are developing proprietary products and rely on permissioned SDKs to achieve their goal. I want to build open source infra for and by the people that can stand the test of time.
I believe that greater adoption of VRM would accelerate the arrival of the open metaverse. They were specifically designed for interop from the ground up. Files are powerful, and I want people to understand this.
VRM is the premiere open standard for virtual 3D avatars and vtubing. It's built on and backwards compatible with glTF 2.0, a royalty free standard file format for 3D objects. There are hundreds of applications that support this format already.
Timeline estimate: ~3 months
Webaverse has been on the bleeding edge of AI + metaverse for years and has created open tools that make it easy for any VRM avatar to become an intelligent NPC with the freedom of choice on what backend service to use.
