    # Rural Mobility Labs ###### tags: `Transformative mobility for all ` ## :memo: Technology Scouting ### Phase shift of movement of people through Electric Mobility solution # paris pledge The country has pledged a 33-35% reduction in the “emissions intensity” of its economy by 2030, compared to 2005 levels. :rocket: ### Technology Indigenization Rural tech labs that enables Talent pool from rural areas for accessibility of resources in developing the prototype. Enabling the entire community of Knowledge pool from universities to industries in collaborating with the tech labs to develop indigenous tools including future mobility. Better rural design in terms of enabling the key players for creating knowledge pool for better job opportunities going further. # Phase1 **Issue-Idea** Radio studio / Online classes > Problem : its hard to pin point the problems faced by kids in rural sector one such is having a community space for learning and other cocurricular activities in villages of India, there are hardly any community spaces except govt schools and temple verandas but they come with their own problem statements such as getting permission from the authorities and time during which they can use in case of govt facilities, access rights and social stigmas of using temple places for girls for their activities. Very few kids have access to the internet and power because of socioeconomic disparities, also, real-world problems such as sending girl kids to someone else's house in a village comes with a social problem from parents. It creates a lot of insecurities in kids itself about their own social and economic status which hinders their voice of go-getting attitude in terms of accessibility of learning tools be it internet or mobile or computer devices. Creating a solution for rural kids to access the internet and power for their community activity such as accessing tech videos over the internet using raspberry pi and creating their own content which can further be enhanced to other learning activities to dissipate technophobia among children. One such solution that we think of is a mobile e-rickshaw which can move from a point to a place where there is better network coverage and the same e-rickshaw can be used as a source of power for all the equipment and tools used for learning wherein this E-rickshaw will have the capability to give AC output with inverter facility for AC devices such as to a large monitor (we can choose DC powered monitors too). Just an imagination of a girl/woman learning how to drive E-rickshaw and going to their friend's places and picking them up and reaching a place where there is better internet connectivity and progressing on their learning curve and breaking the social stigma. As a 2nd "e-rickshaw", we will even be working with them to convert or modify an avaiable vechile. **Issue - Idea** E-rickshaw as a local goods and people transportation service. We have identified 2 important problems the older women especially face in the remote dalit areas in a village. 1. The public distribution service center is at the heart of the village. Dalit women walk approx 2 km to the PDS center every month to carry about 25 to 30kg of ration for their house old. Its normally the older women who are at home during the day when the able bodied adults at home are at work in the fields or at work to earning daily wages. Women often wait for hours for some one to help them carry it on a bike or try to carry it on their heads inspite of their frail bodies. 2. The busstand is on the main road which is close to the village center while the dalit areas are about 2 km away from the busstand. Trasporting the sick and the aged, bring heavy bags and such are always hard to negotiate with for the dalit families as they have to wait for a volunteer to help. Also since it is not a nigh frequency activity, there is no enterprenurial 3rd party service for this. **Update** A e-rickshaw that is collectively owned by the women and girls of the area can come of help not only for the above two Issues but also in developing a co-working collective to handle these and other related activities. We have initiated conversations with women and girls in the dalit area and already see enthusiasm in them coming forward to co-own and handle the e-rickshaw for starts. Manoj and Ashvin compilation https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MLZWZw3ntk0EEfYkDrgZyWHgdH0Aap1WF7qxV_lSseg/edit#gid=0 Manoj: So basically these vehicles on average will cost around 1.25 to 1.6 lakh I would suggest motor spec to be above 1.5 kW at least for the terrain that we have and e loaders can be used in multiple ways, ideally, e rickshaw and e loaders are the same but with different bodies. along with purchasing the e-loader, I would also suggest having n extra set of motors and controllers. other than that I have also seen a guy selling a small generator in case of the battery is down. in not so accessible places that would cost around 15000 rs ### aside collating data as we come across caste and stunting https://www.instagram.com/p/CTjJZf2orx-/
