Dev Update #2

This is my second update for the EPF program. My goal is to have at least two updates per week.

What I Have Done Since Last Update

Readings

I carefully read through the article Empirical Analysis of EIP-1559. My main goal of reading this excellent work was to check the methodology used. The main methodology applied is Regression Discontinuity Design. In my opinion one can use the same methodology to examine the affect of Ethereum Merge on similar metrics, such as transaction fee dynamics, waiting time, consensus security, ETH price volatility, block size variation, etc. You can find my summary report of the article

here.

I skimmed the article Transaction Fee Mechanism Design for the Ethereum Blockchain: An Economic Analysis of EIP-1559 written by Tim Roughgarden. My next immediate plan is to read it again over the weekend and thoroughly understand it.

Progress on the RIG Open Problem 1

Looking at the RIG open problems posted

here, I am mostly excited about problem 1, which is about reviewing Ethereum economic model. The current model needs to be updated with the network parameter values after the merge. But I need to do some preliminary work before diving into this project. One immediate task is to finish the masterclass that introduces the model. I have enrolled this class along with the beginner class from cadCAD since this beginner class is a pre-requisite for the masterclass. In addition to my regular reading, my goal is to finish these two classes in the next two weeks and graduate with certificate.

What is Next?

I compiled a list of readings in my Dev Update #1. I will post them here again. If I finish one, I will exclude the reading from the list; if new articles come up, I will add to this reading list so that I have an up-to-date list throughout the duration of the program.

Today, I will add two articles shared by Barnabé in his twitter account.

In the meantime, I will start cadCAD Bootcamp (Beginner Level) on Monday, October 24th.

That is pretty much what I have in my plate right now. Super excited to start doing some serious work.
