# Dev Update \#1 Hello everyone  I will be participating in the 2022 [Ethereum Protocol Fellowship program](https://github.com/eth-protocol-fellows/cohort-three) as a permissionless fellowship and this is my very first update on my progress. _So, what do I plan to do for the next four months?_ ## First Step As I have been working on the analysis of the dynamic interplay between Ethereum and Ethereum rollups from transaction-fee-mechanism perspective, my main interest area is Ethereum economic models and rollup economics. To start off, I want to first finish several prelminary readings in order to better prepare myself for tackling these problems. ### Readings I am listing all the resources that might be useful for economic model research. I plan to read through some of them in detail, while I quickly review others. - [Rollup economics](https://barnabe.substack.com/p/understanding-rollup-economics-from). - [Transaction fee mechanism design](https://arxiv.org/pdf/2012.00854.pdf) - [Eth2 Economic Review](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pwt-EdnjhDLc_Mi2ydHus0_Cm14rs1Aq/view) - [EIP 1559 Resources](https://hackmd.io/@timbeiko/1559-resources) - [Flashbots Eth2 Research](https://github.com/flashbots/eth2-research) - [Pintail's Notes](https://pintail.xyz/) on Beacon Chain - [The Beacon Chain Ethereum 2.0 explainer](https://ethos.dev/beacon-chain) - [Ethereum economic model](https://www.cadcad.education/course/masterclass-ethereum) This is a course developed by [cadCAD](https://www.cadcad.education/home) in collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation [Robust Incentive Group (RIG)](https://ethereum.github.io/rig/). I might need to finish their beginner class in order to get the most out of this masterclass. - Review Ethereum economic model [GitHub repo](https://github.com/CADLabs/ethereum-economic-model). ## Second Step [Barnabé Monnot](https://github.com/barnabemonnot), who is a member of the RIG and a mentor of this cohort, proposed multiple [RIG Open Problems](https://efdn.notion.site/ROPs-RIG-Open-Problems-c11382c213f949a4b89927ef4e962adf) with different difficulty levels. Amon those problems, [ROP-1: Ethereum economic model review](https://efdn.notion.site/ROPs-RIG-Open-Problems-c11382c213f949a4b89927ef4e962adf?p=53d8410e3fb642c5853424b8f79707ea&pm=s) excites me the most. While I want to tackle more advanced open problems in the list, I first want to establish a solid foundation in my understadning of the economic models. That being said, my immediate focus after first step would be to review the current model. _That's something I am extremely excited about._ ## Next Steps It's hard to specify what I will do before finishing second step. Therefore, I will spend a significant portion of my time in phase 1 of the program to read, study, reflect, and ask the right questions. I can't wait to see what I can discover in this process.
