# Sudden Dapp Funding Proposal

Hey everyone! This is a proposal I'm submitting on behalf of DAO Masons, a new service DAO that designs and implements DAO games and coordination models.

### TLDR

Sudden Dapp is a game that challenges builders to create a dapp within 30 days. The debut season will focus on the DAOhaus SDK during three episodes.

We'd like to invite Public Nouns to co-sponsor a public goods themed episode.


## Abstract

Sudden Dapp is an interactive coordination game that is designed to increase voter turnout and shine a spotlight on dapp builders.

The game kicks off with an open call for dapp ideas, followed by a community vote to identify the best concept. Teams then apply to participate, and the community selects one team with a vote. The chosen team is given 30 days to develop the dapp in the open.

To keep participants and observers involved, Sudden Dapp provides real-time updates and interviews in the style of a game show. The finale brings in judges for evaluation, awarding prizes (ETH or stables) for dapps that meet requirements and demonstrate usability.

## Co-Sponsorship

In its first season, Sudden Dapp will showcase the DAOhaus SDK and MolochV3 contracts. We have approached PublicHAUS to be the leading sponsor.

We extend an invitation to Public Nouns to join as a co-sponsor, which includes a special episode dedicated to public goods. This episode aims to advocate for public goods, challenge the community to think of public good dapp ideas, and teams to create dapps with a public-good focus.

## Supporting Public Goods?

- First season features the DAOhaus protocol, a public good itself.
- Code from dapps will be open-source under a GPL license.
- One episode will be dedicated towards public good dapp ideas.
- Promotion of Public Nouns through mentions and marketing material.
- At least one full DAO dapp that is non-excludable and non-rivalrous.

## Non-excludable?

- Anyone can submit an idea.
- Anyone can apply to build.
- The content of the show is freely accessible.
- At least one dapp will be a public good.

One excludable element to mention is voting. In order to vote in SuddenDapp, people need to be staked in PublicHaus.

## Non-rivalrous?

- Anyone can make use of the game's content and Dapps.
- The game benefits from more people playing it as opposed to less.

## Why is funding urgent?

Sudden Dapp is designed to revitalize DAO governance and redirect focus towards beneficial projects. Sudden Dapp addresses misdirected focus by supporting developers in creating dapps, allowing great ideas from the community to bubble-up through governance, and promoting underutilized projects.

## Impact & Deliverables

- **DAO Experimentation**
- This is a novel, bottoms-up approach to gamifying governance and product development. If we want people to pay attention to new developments, we need to design systems that are entertaining, transparent, and fun.
- **Consistency & Engagement**
- Regular media releases and community interaction ensure steady involvement.
- **Public Goods Focus**
- One episode highlights public goods and the role of Public Nouns within the ecosystem
- It educates participants about public goods and why they are important.
- At least one public good dapp will be created as a result.
- **Community Participation**
- This system is designed to utilize input from the community, shape it through governance, and make DAO development accessible to outside builder teams.

## Feedback Loops

>As developers focus on community-preferred ideas, it's likely they'll create dapps that resonate with users, leading to higher retention. This increased demand for dapps will further motivate developers to create enjoyable applications on the protocol.

>Our objective is to highlight a single builder team's progress, leveraging organic promotion due to participants' vested interest in the selected idea. This approach is expected to attract new viewers and participants, thereby increasing buzz around the game's progress.


>By implementing well-planned, game-like rituals, we intend to boost engagement and stimulate creativity for decision-making. Establishing a clear, fair selection process for these ideas will promote trust and predictability, further enhancing engagement.
