## **About me**

Aloha guys, I am Luiz Hadad, brazilian, 33 years old, surf since I was a little kid and have been on the blockchain world since 2017, working as a community builder in different projects, such as cambiatus.com.

I am a partner at www.surfguru.com.br , Brazil's biggest online surfing community and forecast website, with 300k unique users and 2.5M visits per month. I lead the web3 movement there and we recently launched a social currency to [help clean our beaches](https://surflimpo.cambiatus.io/invite/5w2AoW).

When I got into crypto, I was able to get flexible working hours and dedicate myself to my biggest passion: spend time in the ocean chasing swells and surfing big barrels - as you can see on my [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/luizhadad).


I live in Espirito Santo, a brazilian state with heaps of different slabs - they are the gnarlier types of waves: heavy, fast, hollow and shallow. In front of my house we have 7 different types of slabs - waves that break in different conditions.

One of them is called Avalanche - probably Latin America's heaviest slab - this wave used to be a myth when I was a teenager, and became popular around 2016 when people started using jet skis to surf it (tow-in). This wave breaks at about 3km from the coast - and you can see it from my apartment.

Last year I became the first surfer to be accepted as a member of the [NXF Bodyboard](https://instagram.com/nxfbodyboard) collective, a crew of heavy wave hunters.

We're constantly surfing slabs and creating content about it. In april this year we created our [first NFT collection](https://madnfts.io/creator/nxf-bodyboard/) to experiment and learn how we could engage with web3 communities to support our movement.

We were the first ones to register an epic session in a new slab this season, called 2012

We also hosted meetups about NFTs and big wave surfing, getting in touch with the community, sharing our experiences and learning from their feedback.

Apart from the slabs, we also have Regencia, a great place to get barrels that is only 2 hours away from Vila Velha (my city). I love spending time there.


When the surf season is off in Espirito Santo (from november until march), we have the fishing season. Fishing can become pretty radical when you catch marlins.

We catch and release them, and it's pretty radical to take them for a swim before the release.


During the off-season, I also like travelling to places like Fernando de Noronha, aka as "Brazilian Hawaii" to get some blue barrels.


## **Web3 community building**

I've been involved in blockchain conferences since 2018. I've helped organize few of them, and I am constantly speaking at events.

It would be awesome to spread the word about gnars and help our community grow.

I helped organize Ethereum Rio 2022 and Ethereum SP 2022.

This year I was the [opening speaker at Ethereum Rio](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD1c1ms8Pl0). I spoke how we could use web3 tools to build desirable futures.

I spoke in two meetups related to NFTs and big wave surfing, organized with the NXF crew.

I was also a panelist about impact DAOs in the Blockchain Rio Festival


I love to participate in beach cleanup events - and I am currently working with some projects that reward people with crypto to engage more volunteers.


## **Sponsorship proposal**

I'd love to become a gnars athlete and ambassador. I think 3 ETH for 6 months is a nice way to start - hope we can build a long term relationship.

My focus will be on producing content and representing gnars in different events - from beach cleanups to web3 events.

Surfguru.com.br will also be a partner in this iniciative, sharing news, reposting content on social media, and raising awareness about gnars in any other ways we can think about.

I'll get stickers to put on my board and all the other avaliable merch to represent gnars anywhere I go.
