## Changing your keyboard layout in the Control Panel
**To change your keyboard layout in the Control Panel, follow these steps:**
1. Start by opening up the Control Panel. You can do this by searching for it in the Start menu, or by pressing the Windows key + R on your [keyboard and typing](https://miketyson00710.wixsite.com/8-ways-to-improve-ty) control in the Run dialog that opens up.
2. Once you're in the Control Panel, click on "Clock, Language, and Region".
3. On the next screen, click on "Change keyboard or other input methods". To cycle through your input methods, on a hardware keyboard, hold down the [Windows logo key](https://www.techtarget.com/searchenterprisedesktop/definition/Windows-key-Winkey) and then press the Spacebar.
4. You can also use [spacebartest.net](https://spacebartest.net/) to check if your spacebar key is working properly or not.
4. In the window that opens up, click on "Change keyboards..."
5. On the next screen, you'll see a list of all the [keyboard layouts](https://keyshorts.com/blogs/blog/44712961-how-to-identify-laptop-keyboard-localization) that are currently installed on your computer. To add a new one, click on the "Add" button.
6. In the "Add Input Language" dialog box that opens up, select the keyboard layout you want to add from the list and click on the "OK" button.
7. Once you've added the keyboard layout you want, it will appear in the list on the previous screen. To set it as the default, click on it and then click on the "Set as default" button.
8. When you're done, click on the "OK" button to apply your changes and close the window.
