LGM 2018 in Seville ================= ## Proposal This is a proposal to bring LGM to some spaces that are related to the alternative cultural life of Seville. A LGM not focused in huge presentations or attracting big masses, but more on working groups, specific presentations and workshops, happening on a cozy atmosphere. The kind of spaces proposed and its mood are suitable for this kind of proposal. ## Location The LGM would mainly happen in two different venues: - [Tramallol](http://www.tramallol.cc/compartir_espacio/). Tramallol is a co(op)working space and cultural hub. Here 15-20 people work daily in different fields as programming, cooking, book-binding, design, translations... This venue has three different spaces available: a meeting room of 15 m² and two spaces of 80 m². Tramallol would be the space for workshops, focus groups and small presentations. ![](http://www.tramallol.cc/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/tramallol.jpg) _Main space of Tramallol. The open space at the right is one of the spaces we could use, it's used normally for events like music gigs._ - [Lanónima](http://lanonima.org/), a small social, political and cultural center in the same street of Tramallol (20 m. away). The venue has a sinle long clear space, and we could use it for bigger presentations. ![](http://www.pumarejo.es/sites/default/files/styles/adaptive/adaptive-image/public/field/image/reducida_opt.jpg?itok=CpHQOuPy) _Main space of Lanónima_ Between both venues we could cover two spaces with a capacity of 60-70 sat people plus a small meeting room (for 10-12 seated people) and a bigger room used for workshops (30 seated people or 10-15 tables). It's worth noting that the street is part of the old industrial tissue of the north of the city centre and there're more similar spaces around. It's not unlikely that we could arrange more spaces in the same street or very near if needed. If there is a need for an event in a bigger auditorium—like in the inaugural presentation—we could try the Communication Faculty (https://fcom.us.es/) lecture hall. ![](http://fcom.us.es/sites/default/files/comunicacion.jpg?1355165351) ### Notes on programme #### Previous to LGM It could be nice to propose some activities before the LGM, to attract people, to create transversal connections to the selected venues and to think LGM not just like an event, but more like a process. These presentations would be double: a talk about a professional practice developed with FLOSS software and a workshop about the specifities of this one. The proposal is to have three events, one per proposed venue: - _Aldarull_ (http://aldarull.org/). Political editorial based in Barcelona. They work only with FLOSS software, Scribus mainly. They could explain their adventure and give a workshop about how to create a fanzine with Scribus. (At Lanónima.) - _Trayectos Multimedia_ (http://www.trayectos.org/). _Trayectos_ is a collective that work with multimedia, based in Málaga. Their last works use Blender to post-produce the footage. They could show their last documentary and give a workshop about Blender as a video editor. (At Tramallol.) - _Gráfica Liebre_ (http://www.graficaliebre.com/). They're well known here ;). They could explain their professional practice and give a workshop about graphic design using FLOSS tools. (Communication Faculty.) #### First day The proposed LGM would start on Thursday afternoon with the inaugural presentation (Communication Faculty or other venue) and a social event in Tramallol/Anónima to know the projects behind the proposed venues, hang out and have some beers together. #### Main programme Tramallol is a working place, so LGM should have to be planned taking that into consideration. In that sense it should be centered in a weekend, and the labour days --as Friday or Monday-- the use of the open space --depicted in a previous image-- should be limited to the afternoons, because it's connected to almost all working places in the venue. At the other hand, this open space has a lot of sunlight coming from the roof that could make projections hard to be perceived during the morning. Taking this into consideration the space availability during a normal weekend could be:

![](https://i.imgur.com/rrF8BW8.png)
_T: Tramallol · A: Anónima_

A possible schedule could be shaped by four hour spans, from 10 to 14 and from 16 to 20, having lunch around 14:30. #### Food Both venues (Tramallol and Anónima) have a kitchen. In Tramallol there're a couple of projects that cook and could attend the meals, _La cocina de Tramallol_ (http://www.tramallol.cc/joaquin-moral-garcia/) and _Paella e Hijos_ (http://www.paellaehijos.com/). The food proposal is to have lunches in common, prepared by these collectives (full menu around 10 €), and to let dinners free. It's city center so there're a lot of bars around with cheap prices and reasonably good food (a measure: beer around 1€, 10€ per a not-viking menu). #### Other activities Some of the nights could cover chill-out, laid-back activities to hang out and simply chat, that also provide the venues some financiation through LGM The activities could be: - An 'ambigú' in Lanónima. The 'ambigús' are evening-night events in which Anónima offers music and food. We could project some FLOSS material there. (Friday) - A live show in Tramallol. It could be performed by Antropoloops (http://antropoloops.tumblr.com), a superb audiovisual project based in Seville. Although the music is not produced using FLOSS, the visuals are created using Processing, and the music concept is an absolutely free culture one. (Saturday) - Sunday could be free. It's important to put some air in events like this one. ## The crew Although with the proposal in a more mature state we'll engage more people now we are two teams: - buenaventura.cc It's a company that works in the field of social communication. - wwb.cc An Andalusian cooperative that works with free software, free hardware and open standards, offering technological and communication services in the fields of art, architecture and social movements. The main contact persons would be: - Ale, from *wwb.cc* (ale@wwb.cc) - Maka, from *buenaventura.cc* (mafaddita@riseup.net) ## The town of Seville From *Wikipedia*: «Seville (/səˈvɪl/; Spanish: Sevilla [seˈβiʎa], locally [seˈβi(ɟ)ʝa] (About this sound listen)) is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Andalusia and the province of Seville, Spain. It is situated on the plain of the river Guadalquivir. The inhabitants of the city are known as sevillanos (feminine form: sevillanas) or hispalenses, after the Roman name of the city, Hispalis. Seville has a municipal population of about 703,000 as of 2011, and a metropolitan population of about 1.5 million, making it the fourth-largest city in Spain and the 30th most populous municipality in the European Union. Its Old Town, with an area of 4 square kilometres (2 sq mi), contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar palace complex, the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies. The Seville harbour, located about 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean, is the only river port in Spain. Seville is also the hottest major metropolitan area in the geographical Western Europe, with summer average high temperatures of above 35 °C (95 °F).» ### Getting there #### Visas For visits not exceeding ninety days per six-month period, visas are not required for most countries. *For more information see:* http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/LONDRES/en/Consulado/Pages/CheckPassport.aspx #### Travel The main entrance point would be the airport of Seville: http://www.aena.es/en/sevilla-airport/index.html Seville is a touristic spot, so it's connected to main international destinations and have flights of the main flying companies. ### Accomodation In the center of Seville there's plenty of accomodation solutions, near enough to go by walking to the proposed venues. Prices range widely, and they start in 20 € per night in shared dorms in hostels. For example these three places are near of the proposed area: · Hostel One Sevilla Centro (https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g187443-d2022592-Reviews-Hostel_One_Sevilla_Centro-Seville_Province_of_Seville_Andalucia.html) · Oasis Backpackers (http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Oasis-Backpackers-Hostel-Sevilla/Seville/43651?dateFrom=2017-08-12&dateTo=2017-08-15&number_of_guests=2&sc_pos=4) · Black Swan Hostel (http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Black-Swan-Hostel-Sevilla/Seville/265616?dateFrom=2017-08-12&dateTo=2017-08-15&number_of_guests=2&sc_pos=1) ### Public transport Seville offers bus system throughout all the city and tram, metro and train system covering certain zones. Tickets costs around 1.4 € each trip. There's the possibility of buying a 'bonobus' of ten trips that reduces this cost to 0.7 €, covering metro, tram and bus. There's a touristic card (three days validity) that covers unlimited trips. At the other hand, most of the venues for LGM will be within walking distance of probable accomodation places. If the inaugural presentation happens in the Communication faculty the connection will be through public bus transport system, that connects city center and island of Cartuja. C1 and C2 lines have a stop in the Communication faculty building and they also have bus stops very near the proposed venues. Bus map: http://www.tussam.es/fileadmin/php/descargar-plano.php #### Airport A bus covers connection from the airport. Single ticket is 4€ and single/return is 6€. It's possible to buy the ticket in the same bus. ### Budget and sponsorship possibilities - Communication Faculty - ICAS (a cultural office of the municipality) - UNIA (International University of Andalucia) - Architecture School's FabLab
