Voluntary participation is the cornerstone of sustainable operations in an online community. Consequently, we require civic tech that facilitates individual autonomy, reciprocal interactions, and collective resilience. With Shoutout, every member can publicly promote, acknowledge, and document meaningful moments along the pathway of community growth.

Whether it's expressing gratitude for a member's contributions, sending a thank you note, or celebrating a community milestone, simply tag the Shoutout bot (@shoutout) and write the content you want to celebrate. Each content and its related data will be meticulously documented as a meaningful record in the open database, capturing both the person giving the shoutout and the person receiving the shoutout.

### Stimulating Interactions, Reciprocity and Fun

By default, the shoutout bot will display two Call To Action buttons below the content. One is 'Original thread', which serves as a convenient portal for outsiders to understand the context. The other is 'See the shoutouts', which links to Shoutout Pages visualizing the shoutouts across communities that utilize the Shoutout bot. Furthermore, the bot will repeat and highlight the content in the chatroom using a random cat meme GIF (we love cat memes, but feel free to alter it), providing additional exposure and injecting a touch of fun to foster synchronicity and encourage more public interactions.

### Visualizing Meaningful Moments and Its Contributors

Not only do the meaningful moments matter, but the shoutouter and shoutoutee also play fundamental roles in the co-creation of a sustainable and resilient community. Therefore, one typical scenario is to @shoutout and tag the people who are relevant to the content, such as those who deserve credit for a contribution or anyone you want to celebrate with. These peer-to-peer authentic interactions become a collective movement, encompassing valuable stories and public goods that hold enormous public value.
