<summary><b>What is DAO Drops?</b></summary>
<br>
[DAO Drops](https://daodrops.io) is an experiment in retroactive public goods funding that directly empowers Ethereum users to allocate ecosystem funds. Round 1 will distribute $250,000 DAI to eligible nominees.

<summary><b>What is retroactive public goods funding?</b></summary><br>
> The core principle behind the concept of retroactive public goods funding is simple: it’s easier to agree on what was useful than what will be useful.
> – [Vitalik](https://medium.com/ethereum-optimism/retroactive-public-goods-funding-33c9b7d00f0c)
Retroactive public goods funding is the concept of rewarding efforts that have already yielded a public benefit. This could address the problems associated with public goods funding, such as uncertainty of future outcomes and reporting/monitoring costs.
Putting this power into the hands of a diverse range of ecosystem participants can make it easier to target areas that are overlooked by centralized allocation bodies.

<summary><b>How does DAO Drops work?</b></summary>
<br>
In the *nomination phase* anyone can submit info about projects or individuals who deserve funding. Eligible nominees move on to the allocation phase.
In the *allocation phase* Ethereum users can vote on which nominees deserve funding. Voting power is calculated based on past on-chain activity. $250,000 DAI will then be dropped to nominees in proportion to votes received.

<summary><b>Who can I nominate?</b></summary>
<br>
DAO Drops is targeting projects and individuals who have made impactful contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem but have not received proportional funding and recognition for doing so. This may include areas such as research, infrastructure and developer tools, user experience, community and education.
In order to reduce noise while increasing the median reward size, the DAO Drops team will curate submissions to remove:
- Duplicates
- Spam
- Anything obviously unrelated to the public good
- Anything venture backed
- Anything with no public track record
- Nominees that fail to respond to KYC requests in time (sorry anon)
In future rounds we plan to explore designs that eliminate the need for centralized curation.

<summary><b>How is my voting power calculated?</b></summary>
<br>
Thousands of addresses have been assigned voting power based on three types of on-chain activity (maximum 100 points per address per category – [assignment script here](https://github.com/dOrgTech/DAO-Drops#dao-drops-account-scoring-script)).
- DAO participation, powered by [Deep DAO](https://deepdao.io/)
- Ecosystem event attendence, powered by [POAP](https://poap.xyz/)
- Smart contract deployments, powered by [Galxe](https://galxe.com/)
In future rounds, we plan to improve the scoring algorithm and incorporate more data sources.
