    # Grant Proposal: The Graph Philippines ## Summary: The Graph Philippines seeks to cultivate and expand the web3 community in the Philippines, starting in Cebu, with the initiative launching in August 2023. Our approach integrates structured learning and networking opportunities. Each session comprises a 1-hour workshop or discussion, focusing on topics such as blockchain technology, smart contracts, decentralized applications (dApps), legal aspects of cryptocurrencies, marketing in a digital world, and more. This is followed by a 3-hour networking period, fostering collaborative exchanges among developers, DevOps professionals, financial experts, legal advisors, artists, and marketing strategists. These gatherings are a result of our partnerships with [Web3 Cebu](https://www.facebook.com/web3cebu), tech groups centered around [Angular Cebu](https://www.facebook.com/AngularCebu) and [React Cebu](https://www.facebook.com/reactcebu), local university clubs, and [enspace Cebu](https://www.facebook.com/enspacecebu), which has generously agreed to sponsor the venue for several months. Our collaborations form a diverse and vibrant community, engaging talents from various fields. Through educational workshops and networking, we're stimulating web3 growth across many fields. Our aim is to intertwine professional sectors with the web3 realm, spurring innovation and collaboration. We envision Cebu, and eventually the Philippines, becoming a significant hub for web3 technology, with The Graph Philippines playing a crucial role in this transformation. Meetups will cover a range of topics, adjusted according to audience interests. Each gathering will concentrate on a single subject, with a dedicated 15-minute segment to underscore the importance of The Graph in the web3 and blockchain domain. The meetups will feature a variety of topics, presented in no particular order. We may add or omit certain topics based on audience preference. Each meetup will focus on one specific topic. We will dedicate a 15-minute segment of each gathering to highlighting the critical role of The Graph in the web3 and blockchain space. **Topics:** | Protocols/Topics | Examples | Club/Department | Interesting Discussion | Speaker | | --------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- | | Web3 Social Media | Lens Protocol, Mirror | Social Media Club, Marketing Club, Media Studies Club | Decentralized social media, Censorship resistance, Tokenization and monetization | Raine | | DeFi (Decentralized Finance) | Aave, Maker, Compound | Economics Club, Fintech Club, Investment Club | Liquidity mining, Risks and opportunities in DeFi, Role of DeFi in financial inclusion | Don | | NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) | OpenSea, CryptoPunks, BAYC | Art Club, Digital Media Club, Blockchain Club, Gaming Club | Value and utility of NFTs, NFTs and digital rights management, Minting of NFT art | Raine | | DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) | Aragon, MolochDAO | Political Science Club, Business Club, Law Club, Entrepreneurship Club | Governance in DAOs, Legal and regulatory challenges, Future of organizations | Don | | GameFi | Axie Infinity, Decentraland, TreasureDAO | Gaming Club, Computer Science Club, Business Club, Digital Media Club | Play-to-earn models, Gaming tokenization, Virtual reality and metaverse experiences | Clyde | | Blockchain Data | The Graph | Engineering Club, Computer Science Club, Blockchain Club | Subgraph API building, Blockchain data infrastructure | Don | | Regenerative Finance | Klima DAO, Regen Network | Economics Club, Environmental Club, Social Justice Club | Carbon offsetting, Sustainable economies, Community-led governance, Token incentivization for positive impact | Don | | Webapp and Blockhain integration | MetaMask | Engineering Club, Computer Science Club, Blockchain Club | Ethereum and other blockchains from a web application using web3.js or ether.js | Dru | | AI Prompt Engineering | ChatGPT | Social Media Club, Marketing Club, Media Studies Club | Fine-tuning models for specific AI prompt tasks, AI prompt optimization, AI content generation | Mari | **Audience:** We anticipate each event to draw between 20 to 50 attendees, predominantly professionals, with an active effort to involve students from local universities. [Don](https://twitter.com/dondaryl17) serves as an on-chain analyst for web3 projects and contributes to TheGraph Ecosystem. He also leads The Graph Philippines community [(@TheGraphPH)](https://twitter.com/TheGraphPH). [Raine](https://www.facebook.com/raniellyne.laluna) is the founder of Filipinas NFT, where she is making strides to promote Filipino artists in the NFT space. [Clyde](https://www.facebook.com/melgar.clyde), with his experience as a Community Manager for a GameFi and NFT project, brings his skills in nurturing communities and driving engagement to the table. [Mari Anj](https://www.facebook.com/joannapaula.mariblanca.9), a content creator specializing in AI and web3, brings her ability to create engaging and informative content to our team. Lastly, [Dru](https://www.facebook.com/drupi0), a Web2 developer and Community Lead of Angular Cebu, lends his technical expertise and community-building experience to our tech-centered discussions. Collectively, the diverse backgrounds and shared passion for web3 technologies of our team equip us to significantly contribute to this initiative. **Long-term Vision**: Our goal is to spark curiosity and empower our community to explore the broader web3 ecosystem. We aspire that some will further their knowledge, connect with global web3 communities, and return to share insights through local events. We anticipate this cycle of learning and sharing to inspire members to build innovative projects within The Graph and broader web3 landscape, contributing to a vibrant, self-sustaining ecosystem. **Evaluation and Success Metrics**: We will measure success by tracking event registration and attendance numbers, utilizing Proof of Attendance Protocols (POAPs) to encourage participation. Additionally, we'll observe the emergence of web3 ideas, projects, or startups presented by community members, highlighting the direct impact of our initiative. #### I have read and agree to the privacy policy: ``` true ``` #### Are you applying as a team or individual?: ``` Team ``` #### What type of grant are you pursuing?: ``` Longterm ``` #### Please select the category your project best fits into: ``` Community Building/Education ``` #### Please select who you think will benefit from your project?: ``` TheGraph Ecosystem ``` #### How much funding are you looking for?
