Every hero has **two classifications** shown by small icons in the **top-right corner** of their portrait.

- Everyone else = naked or junk gear you'll dismantle later

**The Rule:** Squad 1 = real investment. Everyone else = hand-me-downs or empty slots.

## Building Priority
**Main Rule:**
Focus all upgrades and resources on **HQ progression first**—all buildings exist to unlock your next HQ level, troop tier, or research.

### Should Murphy go in the back row because of his passive?
**No—Murphy belongs in the front row. Always.**
His passive skill "Stand Firm" reduces damage taken by **front-row units** by 17%. That means:
- Murphy needs to BE in the front row to benefit from his own damage reduction
- He's classified as a Defender (🛡️)—his entire kit is designed to absorb damage
- Putting him in back wastes his tankiness and removes his self-buff
**Correct:** Murphy front, Kimberly behind him so he tanks while she destroys.

### Why Kimberly over other damage dealers?
Kimberly has the highest AoE burst damage in Tank squads, and her skills scale incredibly well with investment. She's the #1 carry for low-spend and F2P players because:
- She's obtainable early (Day 1 for ~$5, or free at Day 61)
- Her damage output outpaces other options at equal investment
- UR shards on her give massive returns

### When should I start caring about waterfall training?
Not until around HQ 18+. Early game, just keep your barracks running and training your highest unlocked troop tier. Waterfall training is an advanced event optimization tactic—focus on HQ rush and Squad 1 first.
