題目：《Cofacts 真的假的》——事實查核與開放多元的融合反應

網際網路中的錯誤訊息與假訊息（mis/disinformation）一直都在我們的身邊。各種保健偏方、錯誤政令解讀、引起恐慌的警告、從 email 轉發的年代不間斷地來到了即時通訊當道的現在。

當假訊息踩在言論自由的界線上大舉入侵、甚至開始影響到民主運作，自由世界該如何殺出重圍、同時又保持言論自由？我們從《真的假的》LINE bot 的運作模式談起，與大家分享這個專案的設計理念、現況，以及大家可以如何一起來幫忙。

Cofacts is a collaborative fact-checking system combining a LINE chatbot with a hoax database. When encountered with a message in doubt in LINE messaging app, an user can send the said message to the chatbot and get a crowd-sourced fact-checking result as a reply.

LINE messaging platform owns over 1.7 million active users in Taiwan. Over 90% of the senior citizens use LINE every week. Comprised of millions of private chatrooms, conversations happening in LINE platform are largely unperceived to the outside world, compared to that happening on Facebook and Twitter.

Cofacts tries to tackle with mis/dis information in this closed platform using LINE's recently-released chat bot platform. Cofacts chat bot acts like a search engine for Internet rumors, but embedded right inside the messaging app, where the rumors are. This empowers people not familiar with Googling, such as senior citizens, to look for answers by themselves.

Behind the chat bot there is a collaborative hoax database, https://cofacts.g0v.tw , which lists out all those messages reported via the chat bot, and welcomes anyone to register as an editor. It allows multiple replies submitted to a reported message, so that everyone can have their saying. The database would be a great go-to resource when you receive rumors in chat apps.

Currently, Cofacts has collected 7,500+ messages reported from more than 18,000 users. 45% of the messages has been replied by 80 editors. Cofacts' chatbot and hoax database can shed light on the how dis/misinformation looks like across chatrooms, keep providing different views to all users alike.
