### Round Table
#### Aad
- we are looking into introducing Solid, distributed data.
- we releases in preview a solid web shop -> making sure customers buy stff. hard to seell because solid is not stable to make sense. They do trust LinkedData so we build it so that each customer has their own graph - username... all -> wich is like a solid pod. That seems good, noone complains. This is a preliminary ste to move to Solid.
- we need to figure out what data we want to have in that graph. Because that data is what you wanna se in your Solid Pod - Solid Viewer. What shoudl we store in there nad what not?
- it is also relevant for for SolidOS - an important thing for people is to buy stuff on the web. If my operator can help me woudl be good. It is great to share the offerings that I have. We did not found anything for what I bought. We build our own ontology. If there is a standardized way, i would like to know about it.
- Tim: I am interested in that use case. I usually take a photo of a package I get and sometimes I just share it. If it is electronics, keeping track of waranty for example. After washing it, I can check later where I bougth it
- Angelo: i am doing this with my stuff, it is a lot of manual work. i am usong schema.org, orders, product and so on.
- Aad: we have that but we do not have: this is offeredn and it contains this much of that product. We do not have info around teh basket - I ordered this mane of that thing...
- Angelo: schema.org order has that. Ordered Items https://schema.org/Order
- Aad: thanks!
#### Angelo
- Problems with rdflib editing still -> Tim pls PR
- URL: https://github.com/linkeddata/rdflib.js/pull/512#issuecomment-1465235877
#### Timea
- Working on the Type Index.
- Meetings are on tuesday evening (like this meeting)
- See next section on SolidUI
#### Tim
- Meeting with ethical web group EWADA at Oxford -> 10min intro about Solid
- Have slides and will put them on the web later.
- Ruben V. was at the meeting too
- Still working on the Matrix code#
- Alain: can we experiment with threads in chat also?
- Tim: there is a new toolbar - click on it and it will work.
- Aad: for matrix issue, in a bit of time Dampridge will have time to help - write in the chat. Tag me and I will connect you.
- Tim: she is a Gitter person?
- Aad: she did some PRs yes. If you ahve particular issues, she can have a peak at it.
#### Noel
- Released new version of Umai with some fixes: [v0.1.1](https://github.com/NoelDeMartin/umai/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#v011---2023-03-11)
- Created post about resource URLs in Solid: [Should Solid Apps have pretty urls?](https://forum.solidproject.org/t/should-solid-apps-have-pretty-urls/6308)
#### Rahul
- I am here to observe
- Alain announced solid-notification 0.2
- if you know of good funding sources, let me know.
#### Alain
- Released NSS 5.7.6 now running on solidcommunity.net with mashlib 1.8.7 (also on test servers)
- issues with authorization -> wrote to Inrupt. -> will be dispatched in the next version. They normalized the redirect uri but introduced another bug.
- also an issue in solid-logic -> remove the # at the end of redirect uri -> in the latest change in inrupt auth, they do not remove the # anymore and we have to do it in solid-logic.
- opened an issue in NSS for notification -> need help for it.
- Tim: encrypted webSockets?
- Alain: yes. I suppose we need to chnage smth in rdflib
- Tim: yes but only on rdflib. As long as you call the call to wait for a change, make a listener through rdflib.
- Timea: Because we have authentiaction problems, can we roll back the update of NSS Mashlib versions?
- Alain: Not easy, would have to roll back everything
- Tim: how about an integration test of the auth lib on our side?
- Noel: In Vue they started doing something similar: [Ecosystem CI](https://github.com/vuejs/ecosystem-ci)
### Top priority topics
#### Solid UI/UX
- Currently there are different ways to use styles just in solid-ui
Findings after code analysis
- all files which make use of ui style.js: infinite, message, messageTools, thread, buttons, forms, multiSelect, autocompleteField, autocompletePicker, buttons
- all files which make use of jss:acl-control, headerFooterhelpers, buttons
- all files which make use of ns.ui: participation, preferences, login, fields.stories, form.stories, options.stories, label, forms, basic, comment, fieldParams, formStyle, autocompleteField
- all files which have own styles: media, signup, dragAndDrop, error, forms, pad, participation, tabs
* Should we align on one way?
* What are advantages or disadvantages to some approaches?
- Tim: the UI ontology is ns.ui -> one of the options to be more powerful, used if you just want to give a field a blue background. It seems a powerful feature, in a way it is a transparent layer. The form user can specify the style. We should encourage them to go with the default.
- Timea: ns.ui shoudl only be part of RDF forms.
- Tim: I like to work towards using style.js I found that to be convenient. It is unconventional in the when programming world but i like it.It is pretty obvious what is going on. One should be able to just download.
- Aad: if our style is intentional than.. there was a movement towards funcitonal styles (inline generated css classes). Logically we should still be able to replace it with different css styles. Even if we do not implement it. Logically it shoudl eb able to do that.
- Tim: there is code that ot a ertain extend can do - in the browser you can say style.element.background-color: white. And the browser would accept it. Try to do it so that developers can change it.
- Aad: in a perfect world we sould say in rdf what domain we are on and load a style.
- Tim: there is a function in style.js - applyStyle to this element and takes name of the style, looks for object style and applies it. If we use that everytime, we can. If apply Style can in one go migrate.
- Aad: we can do the inline style and if we chose to do overridable , it is easy, we just need to override style.js. If we use style.js we do not block ourselfes when we want to evolve.
- Tim: because it is a big js object, one can drive things like inverting all colors, doing arithmetics on widths. We could be more calculated.
- The UI ontology is at http://www.w3.org/ns/ui The prefix is http://www.w3.org/ns/ui#
- Noel: in general I thing that the style.js is a developer concern - we should chose what is easier for devs. RDF defining css is cool but is a lot of complexity. IN my personal projetc I use tailwind css. It is complete opossite of semantics. The dev experience is very good. Make you very productive. We would have it for the forms (in rdf) it is a feature. But the rest of the code I would use only one tool. I have not used style.js, as long as it is one and uniform.
- Angelo: style.js is just for solid-ui, it is not a tool.
- Tim: h3 styles or any name. When you makea. stylesheet you think of it. If you do not have a name for a form, where is the semantics, the name you use to make changes?
- Noel: in Tilwind, you put the style rigth in html. Like in line-sytles but easier to use.
- Aad: the benefit of using classes than inline styles, brwoser can change it. It does not work on inline styles. I don't think it is negative for style.js. Share css injected at the top. Tailwing is the same, checking which class it used and apply style.
- Timea: how about font size
- Aad: screen readers, not a show stopper for inline style.
- Noel: the values must be defined in rems, not px and than it would scale.
- Tim: hopefully when you use the browser is influenced by OS, you can go into it and say I ened larger fonts and ripple all the way. You can also fo that in Solid in profile - you can also say font size. We can propagate that. Screen resolution also. So they use zoom. We should be able to pass that down.
- Alain: in the dashboard we are using widgets and a line of items. I mayb have a lot of contacts and a lot of storage -> I would like to have a menu to replace this line.

### Technical topics
#### Funding sources
- Rahul: for my software where I am trying to integrate Solid - what would be a good way to fund that at an individual level or organisation.
- Noel: the only thing comes to mind - [NLnet](https://nlnet.nl/)
- Aad: thy are supper accessible. Not sure if they have this topic. Dpeends on their focus topics.
- Rahul: I know about it. Any other?
- Aad: for individuals it is approachable. Find research institues and see if topics fit. It is not easy to find out where you fit before you talk to people. It is easier to get funded as Europea.
- Tim: NLnet gets its funds from registratoin fees among other things. The organisation behind gov.uk (uk.org - domain registration organisations) maybe. Look at national domain organisations. Maybe in the Solid community we could look at asking ppl for a challenge they want to have solve and size it about how much it would cost for a developer. And than work with a crowd-funding site. I would have put the Matrix converter up there :)
- Aad: NLnet gets its funding through ngi zero which funds other projects too. NGI zero funded organisations are also posibilities.
- Tim: Ford or Gates - Omidyar, Luminate, are large Foundations, adn there IANA - also nominet.uk.
#### Solid spec 0.10.0 was released
