Contre la politisation :
- Tous les partis ne vont pas être représentés par ce que c'est les Streamers qui choisissent qu'ils invitent. Les partis avec peu de sous ne pourront pas être représenté. C'est grave un truc de vendu.
- Arrive sur des médias jeunes, pour toucher les jeunes pas encore formés à réfléchir par eux même.
- Il ne faut pas que Twitch devienne la télé, cela doit rester apolitique
- Ils feraient mieux de se bouger le cul, que de faire des petites interviews

### Samuel Etienne

Favorable à la politisation des médias "jeunes"

- permet de transmettre des messages importants aux jeunes (macron/mcfly et carliteau pour les gestes barrières)
- rapprocher les jeunes de la politique, leur former une conscience politique
- plus de moyens / profesionnalisation sur twitch et youtube
- twitch est un espace de liberté, un outil de dialogue, d'échanges et de débats, si les viewers ne sont pas intéressés, ils ne regardent pas : dire que qqun n'a pas le droit d'y accéder est de l'intolérance
- je vais inviter des représentants de tous les bords politiques, pour veiller à un équilibre

**Maeva**: Hello everyone! Welcome to our 1rst and last edition of HackMDTV! Today, my guests are Sardoche and Samuel Etienne!

**Théo**: Hello Maeva, Hello Samuel, Hello everyone, I'm Sardoche, and I have huge stomach problems, so if i have to go, don't be surprised

**Alexis**: i'm samuel, glad to be here today

**Maeva**: Sardoche is a French streamer. He is known for losing his temper quite easily while playing video games or tabletop games. He feels entitled to assert what he thinks on social media, and usually expresses an unwillingness to accept points of view that differ from his.
Samuel Etienne is a French journalist who is also known as a TV personality. He has recently started streaming on Twitch.
As for me, I am merely a random student who thought it would be both interesting and entertaining to host this interview.
Twitch is a platform mostly used by youth, which allows anyone to stream whatever they are doing, should it be inspired by TV, radio, or simply playing video games or doing music... It can be used for anything, really.
Our topic today is about political figures appearing in “young” media. Our guests will express their point of view and will have a (hopefully) calm debate. Let us start with Samuel. How did you come up with the idea of hosting political figures on Twitch?

**Alexis**:

- live press reviews every mornings
- goal : inform commu about what is currently happng in the world, on every aspects (not only political)
- give everyone a voice : started to host some people
- interesting on twitch platform : interaction with huge audience -> CREATE A DISCUSSION : + friendly, + direct & + spontaneous
- nowadays, great way to express yourself for everyone, even politics
- invited politics, not familiar w/ this type of media

**Maeva**: Do you feel like it was a good choice, now that you have hosted 2 different political figures?

**Alexis**:

- good choice, but bad timing
- apologize for inviting 2 big political figures in one week
- give the audience some time to digest it all
- important to form audience political awareness
- don't understand the hate around politics on new medias
- twitch : space of freedom, dialog, exchanges and debates tool
- not interested : don't watch
- saying someone is not allowed to use this media : intolerance

**Maeva**: Thank you. Sardoche, what do you think about political figures appearing on Twitch?

**Théo**: I don't think that political figures should appear on a platform like Twitch, it's not the place for that. The speaking time of each presidential candidate can be managed on television. On youth media, it is more complicated to come and respect this speaking time because the limits are much less identified and written in the laws.

**Maeva**: Don't you think that this could allow less popular parties to be more represented?

**Théo** : Not all parties will be represented because it is the Streamers who choose who they invite. In addition, the big parties have money to communicate on the media, political parties with less means will not be able to be represented on the Internet . I think that politicians should take a little more time to do what they have to do and a little less time to try to make themselves look good by multiplying apparitions in Internet.

**Maeva** : Actually that is a very fair point, Sardoche. Thank you. Do you have anything to say about that, Samuel?

**Alexis** :
- don't invite in my house people I really don't agree w/
- invite on pro streaming set representatives of all political parties, to ensure a balance
- hope everyone will do the same

**maeva**: does that mean ur friends w/ castex????

**Maeva** : I think that this is a good counter-argument. Hopefully, we will get to witness that. Now, I want to ask you about another aspect than Twitch. MacFly & Carlito is a duo of YouTube comedians, aiming a young public. They have recently said that they will make a video with Emmanuel Macron, who is the current French president. This event has been much debated as they claim to be apolitical, but will make a video with a political figure. Samuel, what is your opinion on that?

**Alexis** : (sceptique mais pas 100% contre)
- understand what people are concerned about
- macron friendlier
- influence the voting
- improbable meeting happens in the context of the pandemic : goal -> promote safe sanitary comportments, not political aspect
- election will take place in a full year, emotional effect very short : not be there anymore
- political debates will erase the affect we could have before the election
- incredible opportunity : make a video with the President, impossible to decline

- public too young to vote

**Theo** : The Internet and the youth medias on it have not really been used for the presidential elections yet. With the rise of large groups like Twitch and Youtube that allow for high visibility and a large audience, political parties will now try to reach young people through these networks. Moreover, the people on these platforms are young and not yet fully formed politically, so they are potentially good prey to seduce in order to win votes. So it's playing out on these platforms, and I think the arrival of political representatives here is not without other motivations. They want to greenwash themselves before the 2022 presidential elections!

**Maeva**: Thank you for your opinion. Thanks to this debate I have now more insight about this topic. I believe that it is inevitable for political figures to end up on youth media, especially considering that it gives them an even bigger public. Unfortunately, I agree with Sardoche about the fact that most smaller parties might not have the budget for that and thus, would put them at an ever-increasing disadvantage. At the same time, it could definitely help younger people understand more about politics, though I am afraid there will probably be excesses. Do you have anything else that you want to say before we end this edition of HackMDTV?

**Theo**: I like Twitch as it is, and I don't want it to become a media like TV, I think it's meant to co-exist and not become the same.
