The problem:
- at high doping levels conventional methods usually give erroneous values of "t" because of the resistivity and short lifetime in such materials.

>Measuring carrier lifetime in highly doped materials is challenging, as conventional methods usually give erroneous values of “t” because of the resistivity and short lifetime in such materials. Integrating Formal and Functional Approaches to Language Teaching in French Immersion

Step 1
>The immersion approach to language teaching has become increasingly common in Canadian and American schools. In this approach, the children's second language is used as the languageof instruction and means of communication for all or most of the school day. This provides children with the opportunity to learn their second language much as they had their first language, that is, through using it in natural and meaningful situations.

Step 2
>Extensive research has attested to the effectiveness of immersion programs in enabling children to attain high levels of communicative proficiency in the second language, while at the same time allowing them to acquire subject matter content and progress in the mother tongue at rates equivalent to their peers in regular English programs (Swain and Lapkin, 1982; Genesee, 1987; Day and Shapson, 1989). However, research has also shown that there are still major gaps in immersion children's acquisition and control of many aspects of grammar despite the fluent, functional proficiency they achieve in their second language (Adiv, 1980, 1984; Harley and Swain, 1984; Day and Shapson, 1987).

Although many immersion educators have been down on the way to providing children learning a second language. A few educators have called for improving immersion students' oral and written grammar skills through curriculum-based education.

>* conduct an experimental study to determine whether middle-school immersion students' acquisition and use of a specific grammatical form could be improved
>* develop curricular materials integrating formal and functional approaches in order to effect this improvement
