*Examples could be: training machine learning models, climate research, computer vision, energy efficiency, genome analysis, training, agricultural research, demo development. If you give an example of a specific tool or workflow, that would be very helpful.*
The goals of OpenHistoricalMap are to be the best place on the web for creating, storing, and collaborating around historical GIS information. This data is freely available for extraction and analysis by academics, gamers, educational tool creators, and amateur mapmakers.
## What's new or novel about this dataset or the way it is provided?
*Tell us why this dataset is awesome.
How have you optimized this dataset to be used in the cloud?*
OpenHistoricalMap complements OpenStreetMap by extending its coverage of the world into the near and distant past. OHM data can be used in a number of use cases. For example, urban planners can visualize the evolution of a neighborhood to make better-informed plans about its future development. Historians and genealogists can illustrate narratives against period-accurate basemaps, tracking the movement of boundaries and buildings over time. Ordinary members of the public can share their memories with each other while helping to build the world’s most ambitious historical map.
