# Comms and launch (2021-05-26)
## notes:
What is our audience? those interested in data science, and care about evidence that supports knowledge. They want to read something new (the story) but also see and learn how the code and data science words. Transparency and open data and code is key.
TPS community good to help us spread the word. Line up our champions e.g. Yo Y.
A dream would be getting journalist involved (doesn't have to be data journalist, perhaps beter not). Beth has a good list, and relationships. Nick Holliman and data vis. John Burn Murdoch at FT. Christine Zhang at FT. Small group of select journalists, also BBC.
Let comms when any launch is going to be, so they can RT. Blog to launch it. A one-pager of tweets, we do some, they do some. For those tweets, what's the call to action? How can people get involved? What's next?
Lots of people tell stories with data, but don't give you the code or data to see how it works...
Get Yo and out champions. etc. lined up to help spread the word
## plan:
Right now (as in days):
- [x] Ask Jack (@JackRoberts1989 on [twitter](https://mobile.twitter.com/JackRoberts1989)) to write a thread about his story [name=Camila]
- Jack's thread: https://twitter.com/JackRoberts1989/status/1399839926485667847?s=20
- [ ] Tweets from [TDS twitter](https://twitter.com/turingdstories) (@TuringDStories) to retweet Jack and provide context [name=Sam]
- Tweets:
- When will the UK be fully #vaccinated? Find out how you can answer this question using data science in our new Data Story from @JackRoberts1989. http://bit.ly/UkVaccination
- You can find out more about this analysis from the author @JackRoberts1989 <retweet Jack here>.
- You can reproduce the analysis yourself using the latest data, and you can modify the model and its assumptions to see how this affects the predictions.
- If you don't know us yet, we are TuringDataStories, a mix of open data 💾 code 👩💻 narrative 💬 and visuals 📊 to help understand the world around us. Read stories at https://bit.ly/TuringDataStories, or find out more https://github.com/alan-turing-institute/TuringDataStories
- Stay tuned for more stories, and if you have any feedback for us, or you want to get involved, get in touch! <gif>
---------
---------
- "But we want to get it out there now, because this is new and there's more to come, tell us what you think and what's coming"
- [ ] Write tweet(s) for comms to retweet TDS retweeting Jack's story (emphasis on preview, getting something out quick, you'll hear more soon, invite feedback) [name=Sam]
- The Turing Data Stories team has a new story on vaccination forecasting in the UK. You'll be hearing more from them in the coming months, but for now find out how data science can help predict when the UK will be fully vaccinated <RT TDS thread>
- [ ] Keep an eye on our twitter account over the next week [name=Sam]
After that (as in weeks):
- [ ] Prep a series of tweets we send, stressing this is a soft launch and how can people help make us better
- [ ] Give Turing Comms that list of tweets, who to follow and when
- [ ] Give Turing Comms some example tweets for that day
- [ ] Line up TPS community and champions e.g. Yo to help amplify
- [ ] Get a proper 'project' page on the Turing
- [ ] Ask Comms (and IT?), can we get a subdomain of Turing e.g. datastories.turing.ac.uk? [name=DB]
- [ ] Ask Comms, can we use our own custom domain name e.g. turingdatastories.org.uk? [name=DB]
