With Shareable Links, you can now grant others access to your HackMD notes, no email addresses or usernames required.
Whether you’re co-authoring project docs, running community workshops, or brainstorming with your team, collaboration has never been this seamless.
Why we built this
We’ve heard from many of you that inviting collaborators one by one can slow down fast-moving projects or make large-scale teamwork cumbersome. Shareable Links solve that.
Instead of managing long invite lists, you can now generate a single link and share it anywhere, Slack, Discord, email, or your team’s workspace.
Anyone who opens it will automatically gain access to your note with the permissions you set.
What you can do with Shareable Links
🔗 Generate invite links
From the Invite tab, you can now create a unique invitation link for any note you own or manage. Only one active link per note is allowed to keep things secure and organized.
⚙️ Set custom controls
You decide how people use your link. Choose the default permission (Read, Write, or Admin), set an expiration time, and even limit the number of times the link can be used.
🧭 Manage your invites
All active links can be viewed right from your note’s Share menu or the Overview panel. You can quickly check:
- Permission level
- Expiry status
- Remaining uses
And if you ever need to revoke access, just delete the link!
👋 Seamless onboarding
New collaborators without a HackMD account? No problem.
When they click your invitation link, they’ll be guided through a simple login or sign-up process before being automatically added to your note.
🔔 Stay in the loop
Note owners and admins get notified (via email and in-app) whenever someone joins a note using an invite link, so you’ll always know who’s collaborating.
