numfocus aws credits

  • IF: AWS workspaces for debugging packaging issues for architectures/OSes that core developers don't have access to.
  • JJH: aarch64 instances for debugging or setting up our own CI
(IF: We already have this from Works on Arm. No need to get it from AWS)
  • JK: One off instances for long running, high resource, specialty hardware, etc. builds and testing of packages
  • WV: long running instance to do daily builds of ROS ecosystem
    • ROS ecosystem isn't binary compatible between releases, so frequently need to recompile many interdependent packages which is hard on conda-forge because of Anaconda CDN infrastructure and 30min wait times
    • we could experimentally use boa to generate the packages
    • Could also be interesting to experiment with cross-compilation + boa
    • (I know that this isn't exactly conda-forge "core" concern, and no problem to not do this. If I were on my own I would probably get a medium sized Hetzner machine for ~60$ a month)
