# Airdrop

## Goals

I see building this community as like building a bonfire. Just like it doesn't make sense to start a bonfire by using a lighter on a log, it doesn't make sense to start this community by trying to get the widest possible reach. Instead, I'm optimizing for *a small, engaged group of people who are emotionally and financially aligned with the Meta-DAO's success*.

## Overview

Here are the high-level bullet points:

- The airdrop will distribute 1% of the META supply; the rest will be held by the DAO.[^1]
- I split eligible recipients into two categories: *cyber-capitalists* and *techno-analysts*. 5000 META will be distributed to the cyber-capitalists, and 5000 to the techno-analysts. There are 16 people elligible to become cyber-capitalists and ~70 elligible to become techno-analysts.
- To be elligible, you had to be in the Discord by 11/8, before we announced that there was an airdrop. I broadcast that we were going to have an auction, not an airdrop, explicitly to preclude people who would only join for the airdrop.
- To receive the aidrop, recipients will need to take a quiz, which functions both as an explainer of the Meta-DAO's mechanics and as a sorting mechanism.
- The Meta-DAO's treasury will be bootstrapped with 10,000 USDC. So each META token would start with a book value of $1.

### Cyber-capitalists

I wanted to give more META to the people who are likely to be a part of the small, engaged group that will drive the Meta-DAO's success. Of course, I don't expect any commitment from anyone, but I can try to lure you in! :)

I decided cyber-capitalist elligibility based on prior engagements / contributions and on my own intuition. I make no claims of fairness! Here's the list of people who are eligible to become cyber-capitalists:

That's 78 people. So each techno-analyst will receive at least 65 META.

### Claiming

Claiming will be the same for both cyber-capitalists and techno-analysts. I'm not going to give you the whole claim process right here (this is a sorting process too, remember? :slightly_smiling_face:), but the general gist is this:

- like and retweet the original announcement thread
- at some point in the next week, the @metaDAOproject Twitter account will tweet about a quiz
- you will have 24 hours to complete the quiz and claim the airdrop

I estimate that ~50% of those who are eligible will make it through the claiming process.

[^1]: This isn't a 'high float low FDV' situation because the DAO should only issue those tokens for accretive activities (activities that drive more value per token), and could even burn them if it wanted to.

In the end, it came down to engagament in the Discord, contributions to the codebase, and intuition.
