## Special Issue 1: Exclusive Interviews with all Mayoral Candidates
In this special issue of LdS, we asked the mayoral candidates eight questions each, here's what they said:
### Question 1: Should the mayor's powers be expanded? Why or why not?
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### The mayor’s power should not be expanded but instead reduced. I believe that the mayor’s main purpose should be as a cultural figurehead and power should be in the hands of the people. If I did anything I it would be fun cultural stuff like expanding the museum, setting up a snowball game, or something else like that.
#### RedDevel:
> #### I think the mayors powers should be more clearly defined. doing so would either expand or limit them based on the legislature. I myself don't mind either, as long as it is made clear what power they hold.
#### Godomasta:
> #### The mayor's power should only expand when there is an explicit need for it. So far the septembrian cadre has been characterised by a "spontaneous union" regarding government composition: every member is there simply because they are happy fulfilling their responsibilities. The current setup allows the government to function pretty efficiently, and I don't see any need to change it. If such a need arises for any reason and there is a majority to support it though, I can handle the extra responsibility.
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### My joke answer is no. My real answer is yes.
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### there are approximately zero circumstances where expanding the mayor's powers are a good idea. mount september's situation is such that an fkb or similar bill may not be particularly disastrous but it is also a completely unnecessary risk and contrary to the augustan spirit
### Question 2: Do you plan on proposing legislation during your term should you get elected?
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### I would propose just as much legislation as mayor as I do now. In other words a meme bill every month or so.
#### RedDevel:
> #### I was, but I don't think I would now. I think as a mayor it would be best to not propose changes to the law, because the mayor does have a certain influence to sway a vote. So I think it's best to let the city do that on their own.
#### Godomasta:
> #### September has many brilliant lawmakers and our legal framework is very flexible. Our condensed legal documents are one of our strengths and it is best for it to remain that way, as we have learned from augusta. Legal reform is not the focus of my campaign.
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### No, I intend to resign upon winning.
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### only to mandate the public execution of all outgoing mayors
### Question 3: Will you get involved into more geopolitics or maintain Mount September's current neutrality?
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### I think this should be up to the people of MtS to decide but personally I prefer neutrality.
#### RedDevel:
> #### My opinion is that the mayor is supposed to lead the city in interest of the residents, leading them to conflict would be opposed to that.
#### Godomasta:
> #### The server is tired of war and conflict, international relations have reached a new stage. Mount September's ideals date back to the origin of civ as a genre but we are still a young state and need positive interactions. There is a generalized interest in Mount September on the server: embassies are being built and our discord is quite cosmopolitan; we must establish a good presence both outside and inside the city, improving local and global infrastructure. That is my focus.
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### No, I intend to resign upon winning.
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### i have no desire to change anything about mts' current geopolitical direction
### Question 4: Why do you think you are the best choice for mayor?
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### I think I would make a good mayor because I would limit mayoral power to a cultural position, I’m a relatable figure for newfriends as I am one myself, and I just enjoy playing in MtS with friends.
#### RedDevel:
> #### There are a lot of good candidates I would vote for myself, I wouldn't be so arrogant as to consider myself above them. Let the people decide who would be best to lead.
#### Godomasta:
> #### The best mayor is the one you can approach the easiest. I have recruited many newfriends and keep a healthy activity in-game as well as outside of it; i am available most of the time. My tasks as Secretary of Infrastructure are completed efficiently and transparently: the property map, canal expansions, museum interior / curating, the port and overland rails.
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### If you want an election redo I promise I will be your candidate.
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### probably godomasta seeing as he's running now
### Question 5: Describe your campaign in a few short sentences.
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### Since this is question 5 I’ll do it in five words: Limit mayor, power to residents.
#### RedDevel:
> #### Oldfriend wisdom good, Newfriend ignorance bad. However Newfriend spirit good, Oldfriend cynicism bad.
#### Godomasta:
> #### September's progress so far has been outstanding but we can't slow our march. Civ's history is filled with prosperous nations that fell to inactivity simply for not having a plan. Our physical connection to other nations is still poor and our defense has room for progress. September must exploit this period of stability as much as possible.
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### I will resign immediately upon winning
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### i will arrange for squareblob to be publicly executed then resign and then also be publicly executed
### Question 6: What is your opinion on the biggest multinational unions (Entente, UDF, DUMP..), as in, how do you view them?
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### I view these multinational unions as relatively irrelevant to MtS. Staying neutral seems like a pretty cool thing to do.
#### RedDevel:
> #### I have no qualms with any of these unions. Them coming together to declare they would defend each other as friends can only be seen as wholesome.
#### Godomasta:
> #### The server's stability is maintained by the growing interstate system that gives birth to these unions. However, we must be weary not to be left out, I think the Augustan Federation has a lot of potential.
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### “didn’t you quit”
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### mostly drama magnets, sometimes world police
### Question 7: Do you enjoy Lusitan wine?
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### Asking me if I enjoy Lusitan wine is like asking me if I enjoy water. I have plenty stockpiled in my house (even though I keep drinking it all).
#### RedDevel:
> #### Can't say I've had a taste before. :(
#### Godomasta:
> #### i love lusitanian wine
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### Yes
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### i have never had lusitan wine
### Question 8: What is your favorite food?
---
#### Minemaster:
> #### I don’t really have a favorite food because it depends on what I’m in the mood for, but if I had to choose I think I would go with mussels in a white wine sauce.
#### RedDevel:
> #### chicken tandoori. I could have that same dish for weeks.
#### Godomasta:
> #### ingame: baked potatoes, irl: fentanyl
#### Specificlanguage:
> #### Yes
#### Orange Wizard:
> #### baked beans on toast
