'ML senior' Kim Ha-seong's meaningful words: "Jung Hoo-ya, major is not an easy place."
Lee Jeong-hoo (Kiwoom) is aiming to advance to the major league. What would you like to say to big league senior Kim Ha-seong and Lee Jeong-hoo?
San Diego Padres Kim Ha-seong is back. Ha-seong Kim entered the country through Incheon International Airport on the 11th. He established himself as the team's new number one hitter in the 2023 season and made a 'golden return' with excellent results, setting a career high of 17 home runs and 38 stolen bases. Ha-seong Kim will begin preparations for the new season in Korea ahead of acquiring FA qualifications after next season. He plans to give his tired body a rest and focus on his exercise to make up for the shortcomings he felt this season.
It is of interest to see how much better Kim Ha-seong will perform next season, but it is also interesting to imagine him competing against his close junior, Lee Jeong-hoo, on the major league stage. Jeong-hoo Lee is aiming to advance to the big league by qualifying for posting. The possibility of joining any team seems high. The two worked together at Kiwoom Heroes (including the predecessor Nexen Heroes) for four seasons from 2017 to 2020 and served as team figures.
Ha-seong Kim highly evaluated Lee Jeong-hoo’s chances of success. Ha-seong Kim said, "Actually, I don't have any advice to give to Jeong-hoo. He is already a complete hitter. I watched a lot of pitchers' pitches during spring camp, and I think if he just adapts, he will get good results."
At the same time, he did not forget to say that playing on the Major League stage, where the world's best players gather, is not easy. Ha-seong Kim added, "I plan to tell Jeong Hu about what I felt there. The Major League is not an easy place. I think I will tell him to prepare well."
First of all, Kim Ha-seong's team, San Diego, is not in a very active mood regarding Lee Jeong-hoo. Still, I don't know how people work. Local media are mentioning Lee Jeong-hoo as a candidate for a new team. When Kim Ha-seong was asked if he had ever thought about playing on the same team, he laughed and said, "We already played a lot together in Korea." He went on to say, "It's up to Jung-hoo to choose the team. I don't want to put that kind of pressure on him."
In Kiwoom's final home game, San Francisco Giants general manager Pete Putilla showed up in person to see Lee Jung-hoo. San Francisco is a National League West team like San Diego. If Lee Jeong-hoo wears the San Francisco uniform, we can meet him as often as eating a meal. Ha-seong Kim expressed his thoughts, saying, “I’m not particularly concerned, but I hope Jung-hoo goes to a place where he can do well.”
