  • 使用開放原始碼成果之餘，我們也嘗試貢獻程式碼
    • Apple 執行長 Tim Cook 在 6 月 22 日 WWDC 正式發表自主研發的 Arm 架構處理器 Apple Silicon，取代 Intel 晶片作為 Mac 電腦的處理器，象徵「Mac 歷史性的一天」，在 "Platforms State of the Union" 錄影的時間軸 20:23 提及運用現有開放原始碼專案可加速移轉到 Apple Silicon，其中就包含我們所維護的 sse2neon 專案: (除了 Apple，最近我們也收到 Google 及 Amazon 提交的貢獻)

      We are also passionate about making sure that open-source projects thrive on the Mac, especially if they benefit the larger software-developer community and can help accelerating the port of other software packages.
      So we have already done the initial work for some of the more widely used open-source projects to help the community get started, and we will be publishing patches to them in the next days.

Q1: open source education 的好處與最大意義為何？

jserv:

  • 用開源在教育上，最大的受益者是自己，總會引用到一堆過去的東西
  • 讓學生知道吃果子拜樹頭/改善源頭。學生也為 linux kernel 做出貢獻：雖然才改三個字，但已經拉開與其他人的距離
  • 與其他的開發者有共同的語言。

洪士灝:

「站在開源巨人的肩膀上」 洪士灝

  • 越早開始學習，能學到越多東西。先求有，再求好。從實作中學習。
  • 透過大量閱讀source code增加實力

林偉棻：

  • 對企業來說，有做過 open source project 是利多
    • 一部分代表著那個人願意看別人的 code，這是很多 rd 不愛做的事

Q2: open source education 面臨最大的困難跟挑戰是什麼

jserv:

  • 有些時候，運氣也是很重要的。
    • LXDE 的開發小故事
      • jserv 因為鍵盤關係不想換新電腦，但 linux 在舊電腦跑很慢只好自己修、pcman 沒空買新電腦只好自己刻一套桌面環境 LXDE。意外被 Raspberry Pi Foundation 採納作為預設的桌面系統，於是 LXDE 從一開始兩個使用者，衝上超過四千萬人次使用者、世界第四大的自由軟體桌面系統環境
  • 台灣教育環境的困境
    • 過於短線投資導向：即如果不能「現學現賣」，就覺得授課教師沒教好、課程沒用

太多難以複製的經驗，所以有打群架的必要

  • 高手與入門者的差距；新專案入門往往沒有參考文件。
  • 軟體/硬體專業人員專注方向不同。

  • 推動open source 教育，開發專案經驗的傳承。
  • 台灣工程人才不輸給矽谷，但單打獨鬥缺團隊合作跟遠見。

Q: 是否能用 source code 去溝通？

現況純用 source code 溝通很困難，過去開放原始碼界充滿了 hacker 對彼此的背景知識有共識，現在領域太過複雜多元，背景知識基礎常常不一。

這是反過來的，我不建議用 source code 去溝通
