--- ###### tags: `PlorQuest` --- # D&D 5e Races & Classes ## Character Races In Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5e), character races are a fundamental aspect of creating your character. They represent the different species or types of beings that exist within the game world. Each race has its own unique traits, abilities, and characteristics that can greatly impact your character's abilities and playstyle. Here is an overview of character races in D&D 5e: **Dwarf**: Dwarves are a hardy and stout race known for their resilience, craftsmanship, and mining skills. They have darkvision, resistance to poison, and proficiency with certain tools. Dwarves can choose subraces such as Hill Dwarves, Mountain Dwarves, or Duergar (gray dwarves). **Elf**: Elves are graceful and long-lived beings with a deep connection to nature. They have keen senses, proficiency with longbows, and advantage against being charmed. Elves can choose subraces such as High Elves, Wood Elves, or Drow (dark elves). **Halfling**: Halflings, also known as hobbits, are small and nimble creatures with a knack for stealth and luck. They have bonuses to dexterity and are naturally stealthy. Halflings can choose subraces such as Lightfoot Halflings or Stout Halflings. **Human**: Humans are versatile and adaptable beings, known for their ambition and diversity. They gain a bonus to all ability scores and extra skill proficiencies. Humans do not have subraces. **Dragonborn**: Dragonborn are humanoid creatures with dragon-like features and ancestry. They have a breath weapon and resistance to a damage type associated with their draconic heritage. Dragonborn do not have subraces. **Gnome**: Gnomes are small, intelligent, and curious creatures with a natural affinity for magic and tinkering. They have advantage on mental saving throws and a bonus to intelligence. Gnomes can choose subraces such as Forest Gnomes, Rock Gnomes, or Deep Gnomes (svirfneblin). **Half-Elf**: Half-Elves are the offspring of humans and elves, inheriting traits from both races. They have increased charisma, gain skill proficiencies, and can choose certain elven abilities. Half-Elves do not have subraces. **Half-Orc**: Half-Orcs are the result of human and orc pairings, possessing strength and endurance. They have bonuses to strength and constitution, extra damage on critical hits, and resistance to certain conditions. Half-Orcs do not have subraces. **Tiefling**: Tieflings have infernal heritage and display demonic traits. They have bonuses to charisma and intelligence, resistance to fire, and can cast spells related to their infernal ancestry. Tieflings can choose subraces with different abilities. Additionally, D&D 5e introduces playable races in supplemental books, such as Aasimar (celestial heritage), Goliath (giant-blooded), Firbolg (nature-inspired), and more. Each race offers unique traits and abilities that can influence your character's abilities, skills, and role in the game world. It's important to consider both the mechanical benefits and the flavor of a race when creating your D&D character. ## Character Classes In Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5e), character classes represent the different roles and areas of expertise that a character can specialize in. Classes define a character's abilities, skills, spells, and overall playstyle. Each class has its own unique features, progression, and flavor. Here is an overview of the character classes in D&D 5e: **Barbarian**: Barbarians are fierce warriors who tap into their primal rage to become formidable in combat. They have high hit points, proficiency with melee weapons and shields, and the ability to enter a rage, granting them increased damage, resistance to certain types of damage, and other benefits. **Bard**: Bards are versatile performers and masters of manipulation and magic. They combine martial skills with spellcasting and inspire allies through music and oratory. Bards have access to a wide range of spells and can use Bardic Inspiration to boost the abilities of their allies. **Cleric**: Clerics are divine spellcasters who draw power from their devotion to a deity or a higher power. They can heal, buff allies, and wield divine magic to smite enemies. Clerics have access to a wide range of spells and can also wear armor and wield weapons. **Druid**: Druids are spellcasters who have a deep connection with nature.
