Notes

Colin is chairing September! No one seems to care about the football.

Actions

  • Phil to talk to Aleks about transitioning old lessons to the new format
    • https://hackmd.io/team/local-uk?nav=overviewPhil: Aleks says there is a workshop at carpentry connect in November which has a Thursday hackathon looking at transitioning lessons to the new Workbench format. Any priorities for transitioning? Mostly incubator lessons.
    • Olexandr: Maybe some HPC carpentry lessons. There is a script to aid the conversion. Translating with Crowdin is set up for the Workbench so lessons need moving across before translating. Found translators through joint UK-Ukraine University twinning scheme/conference/direct contacts.
  • Phil to talk to Aleks about revitalising the chairing session rota
    • Aleks said yes, need people to volunteer for a few months ahead.

Updates

Updates from Olexandr:

RSECon 2024: The training BoF was accepted: https://virtual.oxfordabstracts.com/#/event/49081/session/118381 Aleks leading the coordination. We need to plan the BoF soon!

Tidy up this group's documents

Phil: Some of the links on the main document are a bit untidy and need checking to see if they still work: https://hackmd.io/V3ReKkEESzqyCNxWJdulOw. Update the calendar invite because the link says Forbidden. https://hackmd.io/team/local-uk?nav=overview

Actions:

  • - Update recurring calendar invite to replace broken link to 'Community space at HackMD' (or make the link work again)
  • - The Carpentries Instructor Training checkout. link on the main hackmd page is broken but not sure where this should point to.
  • - Fix order of months in 2024
  • - Fix Twitter -> Mastodon
  • - Fix Slack links
  • - Decide what to do with the December meeting, cancel or move forward a week?
