In today's digital age, cybersecurity and data privacy are critical for individuals and businesses. Using a residential IP proxy is one way to protect personal privacy and maintain network security. However, there are some key criteria to consider when choosing the right residential IP proxy to ensure the best possible experience and security. ![screenshot-20240408-175838](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJ-lxSWeR.png) 1. Criteria for selecting a residential IP proxy: 1.1. Speed and Stability: Choosing a fast and stable residential IP proxy is critical. Ensure that the proxy server is highly responsive and can maintain a stable connection to avoid interruptions or delays. 1.2. Geographical location and IP distribution: Consider the geographical location and IP address distribution of the proxy server. Choosing a proxy server that is close to your physical location can improve connection speed and stability, and help circumvent geolocation restrictions. 1.3. Privacy and Security: Ensure that the residential IP proxy you choose offers strong privacy and security features. This includes end-to-end encryption, a no-log policy, and other security features to protect your personal information and data from being disclosed or accessed by third parties. 1.4. Pricing and Payment Options: Consider the pricing and payment options for your proxy service. Look for reasonably priced and flexible services that may have different payment plans available to meet your needs. 1.5. Customer Support and User Experience: Understand the level of customer support and user experience of the proxy service provider. Look for a service provider that has a good reputation, offers 24/7 support, and can provide an easy-to-use user interface and documentation so you can easily use and configure the proxy. 2. How to choose the best residential IP proxy for you? After understanding the above selection criteria, you can follow the steps below to select the most suitable residential IP proxy for you: 2.1. Research and compare different proxy service providers to understand their features and pricing. 2.2. Assess your needs, including frequency of use, geographic location of connection, privacy protection needs, etc. 2.3. test the speed and stability of different proxy services to ensure they meet your expectations. 2.4. carefully read and understand the terms and conditions and privacy policy of the proxy service. 2.5. ultimately choose the residential IP proxy that best suits your needs and start using it. Lumiproxy is my go-to solution for my personal proxy needs because its simplicity and ease of use is unmatched. As a leading provider of advanced proxies and web crawlers, Lumiproxy not only excels in its own word-of-mouth, but also in user reviews across a variety of platforms. However, amidst the accolades, it is crucial to differentiate between real experiences and mere rewards. In order to reveal the truth, we have conducted thorough research and performance tests and will present all our findings in this Lumiproxy review. ![screenshot-20240408-175857](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rk3lxBbgC.png) lumiproxy proxy overview Lumiproxy is a US-based proxy service provider offering multiple categories of proxies, including residential, static and unlimited residential proxies, as well as a comprehensive web crawling API.Known for delivering high-quality proxies and excellent customer support, Lumiproxy strives to cater to the needs of both small proxy users and corporate clients, with a pricing structure designed to cater to all types of users. A notable feature of Lumiproxy's service is its generous refund policy and free trial option, which will attract the attention of potential users. While Lumiproxy offers various categories of proxies, this review will focus primarily on its residential proxies, demonstrating their effectiveness and reliability. ![10](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1cMer-gA.png) Lumiproxy Residential Proxy Lumiproxy's most popular product is its Residential Proxy, which is a residential proxy based on a rotation mechanism. With this service, your IP address changes frequently with each request or after a period of time during session management. Its IP address pool contains over 90+ million residential IP addresses from real Internet user devices. The service has two basic modes to choose from - rotation mode and sticky session mode. In rotation mode, you will get a new IP address after each request. This setup is suitable for web crawling, and rotation mode is very effective considering its large pool of IP addresses. Since the IP address changes after each request, you won't even get close to the request limits set by the website, which could cause you to be blocked. Therefore, the service is perfect for web crawling, including price monitoring, SEO monitoring, social monitoring and other tasks. The service supports geolocation in all countries and regions. This allows you to crawl geo-specific content from any part of the world and even supports state-level geolocation for US states. However, for tasks that require session management, using high-frequency rotation ports can be confusing. Instead, you can use their session port, which will maintain sessions for 2 hours. You can customize the rotation time as needed. I recommend using this session port for account management tasks, including the management of multiple accounts. Lumiproxy allows you to create any number of proxy endpoints that you can utilize to manage multiple accounts. ![图片3](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/HJPZlr-x0.png) As far as pricing is concerned, Lumiproxy is one of the most affordable high-quality proxy service providers on the market. Their pricing is billed based on the bandwidth used, with pay-as-you-go plans costing as little as $0.80 for a minimum capacity of 1GB of traffic. Interestingly, if you opt for one of their packages, the cost per GB is even lower, down to as low as $0.80/GB, which is quite a bargain. Lumiproxy Unlimited Residential Proxy Unlimited residential proxy refers to a proxy service that is characterized by the use of real residential IP addresses. Unlike data center proxies, residential proxies derive their IP addresses from real Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and are therefore more stealthy and difficult to identify and block. The Unlimited Residential Proxy service offered by Lumiproxy allows users to access a large number of unlimited residential IP addresses worldwide without having to worry about bandwidth and traffic limitations. Benefits of Lumiproxy Unlimited Residential Proxy include: Unlimited Bandwidth and IP Addresses: Users can access a large number of IP addresses without worrying about bandwidth or traffic limitations. High degree of an onymity: Since the IP addresses come from real residential networks, they are difficult to be recognized and blocked by target websites. Global Coverage: Lumiproxy provides residential IP addresses from all over the world to meet multiple geographic locations. Fast and Stable: Unlimited residential proxies guarantee high-speed data transmission and stable connections. Transparent billing: Users do not pay hidden fees for extra traffic or bandwidth. Lumiproxy's Unlimited Residential Proxy is mainly suitable for traffic demanding scenarios as the service is billed on a time basis without limiting traffic usage. This makes Unlimited Residential Proxy ideal for the following application scenarios: Large-scale data crawling: For tasks that require the capture of large amounts of web data, such as search engine optimization (SEO) analysis, competitor monitoring, or market research. Content Aggregation: For platforms that need to aggregate content from multiple sources to support frequent data updates and synchronization. Social Media Automation: For managing multiple social media accounts when performing a high volume of posting, commenting, liking, etc. E-commerce price monitoring: for e-commerce platforms that monitor competitor price changes. Cybersecurity and Fraud Detection: for businesses that perform cybersecurity analysis and fraud detection. It is important to note that the IP addresses provided by Lumiproxy are in a global mixed state, and users are unable to obtain location-specific IPs. therefore, if the application scenario requires location-specific IP targeting, the Unlimited Residential Proxy may not be the best choice. In terms of pricing for Lumiproxy Unlimited Residential Proxy, a variety of package options are offered to meet different needs. The lowest package price is $76.33 per day, but purchasing a day individually is relatively expensive. Individual businesses are advised to consider purchasing a longer term package to enjoy a lower average daily price and ensure consistent service. By choosing a longer-term package, users not only get more usage time, but also benefit financially and provide reliable support for the continued development of their business. ![图片4](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/HyB7gHWl0.png) Lumiproxy Residential Proxy Features Cheaper Charges Than Its Competitors One of Lumiproxy's main competitive advantages is its pricing strategy. While not the cheapest residential proxy service on the market, services like IPRoyal, Proxy-cheap, Hydroproxy, Geonode, Asock and Froxy are much cheaper. However, we do not consider these services to be our competitors as they are small proxy providers that do not offer high quality proxies. Lumiproxy's pricing is more affordable compared to other competitors that are known as premium residential proxy providers. We offer pay-as-you-go plans with a minimum price of $0.80 per GB, which is a lower price compared to similar plans from competitors like Bright Data and Oxylabs. Moreover, it will be even more affordable if you opt for our package plans, as compared to our competitors, who do not have similar package plans. This makes us the preferred choice for large proxy users, while still being affordable for smaller users. Huge IP Pool and Global Coverage One of the compelling features of Lumiproxy is its large IP pool and supported geographic locations. Our IP pool has over 90+ million residential IPs, making it one of the largest residential proxy pools on the market, competing directly with the top companies. Having such a large IP pool means that network resources are plentiful enough to support large-scale network crawling and automated operations without having to worry about depleting IP resources. As a result, our IP pool has one of the lowest IP duplication rates in the market. In addition to the size of the IP pool, distribution is also very important. lumiproxy supports geolocation in over 195+ countries and regions, which allows users to fetch localized data from all over the world. In addition to country-level localization, we also support city-level localization for popular cities. ![图片5](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/H1pmlSbgA.png) Rotation and sticky session support and good session control Lumiproxy provides rotating proxies with IP replacement for its actual residential proxies. By default, the proxy is highly rotated, which means that the IP is changed after each request. even if no web request is sent, the system refreshes the IP address assigned to your endpoint within 60 seconds. This highly rotational nature makes it ideal for web crawling. However, frequent IP changes are not ideal when sessions need to be managed. Therefore, Lumiproxy Residential Proxy supports sticky sessions, where an IP is maintained for a limited period of time before it is changed. While the IP is maintained, the session is also maintained. This time period is customizable, giving you greater control over the session. Supported rotation times include 1, 10 and 30 minutes up to 2 hours. If you still need longer sessions, it is recommended that you use their static IP proxy. Lumiproxy Residential Proxy Performance Test In this section of the review, I will focus on lumiproxy performance and show you the expected results based on my tests. Lumiproxy Proxy IP Geography Test Location support for residential proxies not only provides flexibility, but also lets you know what content is accessible and where you can grab its localized data. Unfortunately, most providers usually list only the number of supported countries/regions without providing the number of IPs per country/region. According to the information provided by Lumiproxy, they have a huge resource of residential IPs. However, we focus more on the location distribution of IPs to ensure that users have access to exactly the local data they need. Therefore, our focus is to provide a wide and balanced IP distribution covering all countries and regions around the world to meet the diverse needs of our users. ![图片6](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SkIEgBZe0.png) According to the data provided by Lumiproxy, we have a huge IP resource covering 195+ countries. Out of these, 6 countries account for 45% of the total IP count. Of these countries, the United States has over 45 percent of the IP count, the United Kingdom over 30 percent, followed by Greece and Indonesia with a total of 25 percent. Typically, these locations have millions of IPs, which is enough to support large-scale web crawlers to collect localized data. However, if you need to crawl localized data from less popular locations, you may run into the problem that the IP pool is too small for effective IP rotation. If your target location is less popular, we recommend you to contact our support team to find out whether the IP resource of the location is sufficiently abundant before making a decision on purchasing a plan. However, if you need to crawl localized data from unpopular locations, you may run into the problem that the IP pool is too small for effective IP rotation. If your target location is less popular, we recommend you to contact our support team to find out whether the IP resource of the location is sufficiently abundant before making a decision on purchasing a plan. Proxy Success Rate Testing When using Lumiproxy, not all requests are successful, especially when performing automated processes such as web crawling. For some requests, your proxy may take care of the processing. Residential proxies often face issues such as connection errors, timeouts, and delays, all of which can increase the likelihood that a request will fail. To improve your success rate, you need to use a proxy that has been carefully designed to minimize the failure rate. To determine if Lumiproxy meets this criterion, we sent 300 concurrent requests to a number of popular websites and recorded the success rate. Below is an overview of the results. ![screenshot-20240408-180048](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/ryZPlrZgC.png) Their average success rate for residential agents is 93.4%, which is among the top in the market, with only Bright Data slightly above it, but the difference is negligible. Looking at the charts, you'll notice that some sites (such as Adidas, Amazon, and Bing) have success rates as high as 95%. With success rate figures like these, we can conclude that Lumiproxy offers some of the highest quality residential proxies, as most of our requests were completed successfully without any hindrance. Response Time Testing Residential proxies are known to be usually slow, which can be a bottleneck in web crawling. Because of this, you need to use the fastest residential proxies to ensure that you can get the data you need as soon as possible, as using slower service providers can waste your precious time, especially when working on larger projects. We tested the response time of Lumiproxy residential proxies to see how fast they return a response after sending a request. Below is a comparison of the test results with other providers. ![图片8](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/Bk5veHWe0.png) As you can see from the test results, our agent has an average response time of 0.51 seconds, which makes it one of the fastest responding agents on the market. The fastest provider was Bright Data at 0.48 seconds. In comparison, the slowest vendor takes 3.75 seconds to respond. Therefore, it can be seen that Lumiproxy excels in terms of speed, and the gap between it and Bright Data is so small that it is almost negligible for most users. How to use lumiproxy Let's check out their control panel (dashboard) to see how to use the proxy server before we start testing. ![图片9](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/Hke_eBbgR.png) Lumiproxy, like most good proxy servers today, provides a simple way to manage proxy servers using a dashboard user interface.Lumiproxy is very easy to understand and use. You can monitor traffic usage and manage the IP locations to be used. Rotating Proxy This endpoint type provides a new IP for each request (rotation): as.lumiproxy.com:5888 If you use this IP:port (endpoint), each new connection request is given a random IP from a pool of 90 million residential proxies. This type of endpoint is perfect for data collection, web crawling, or other similar tasks. If you only want rotating (random) US IP addresses, use port 5888 and a country-specific address such as US IP: us.lumiproxy.com:5888 This will result in a new US proxy for each connection. Sticky IP Endpoint This endpoint type provides you with an IP for a longer period of time (up to 2 hours). To keep the IP on lumiproxy for a longer period of time, you must use a "sticky endpoint". After registering, you can find all endpoints in the proxy dashboard. lumiproxy can provide up to 10,000 ports for sticky IPs. So, for a sticky US IP, you can use the Us.lumiproxy.com:5888 Therefore, you can use 2000 sticky IPs from each country at the same time, and they rotate every minute. If you need more sticky sessions, you can connect them through the reverse connection node. You can use Lumiproxy's network in two ways: Authentication is how you access the server. There are two ways to do this, and lumiproxy provides both: 1. Standard username: password authentication. Simply use your account information to access the lumiproxy proxy server. Using this method, you can access the proxy server from anywhere. 2. IP Whitelisting: You can whitelist your device IP so that lumiproxy will allow all requests from that IP to pass. This is great if your software cannot use the user:pass authentication method. This is also very convenient if you always work from the same location, as you don't need to use passwords. Conclusion The Lumiproxy service provides excellent high-performance residential proxies with extensive location support and large IP poolfor web crawling tasks of all sizes. Based on the results of our performance tests, our proxy is the best choice for web crawling, especially for medium to large scale crawling tasks. At the same time, our agents are also ideal for small-scale web crawling, as they are among the highest performing and most affordable premium agents.
