Thanks Clkao! Lovely to meet you to Han and Testuya-san :)

This sounds like the perfect meeting of needs around the election. The top level view of what were doing is as follows; mySociety has had some previous projects with Facebook around elections about matching elected representatives with their Facebook profiles and we've been asking if this is also possible for Japan. We want to do a project which is similar and put all the candidates and elected officials into EveryPolitican.org and Wikidata as well to make the information globally available and useful - this is why mySociety is looking for a local partner or consultant to work with.

What is needed is someone who can both advise us and help us prepare the foundational data (primarily candidate + political boundary data) as well as help us with the language as we have no Japanese speakers on our team at all. It is probably a few days of initial work, plus a potential for a more depending on how much work emerges as necessary from the first stage - for example in Germany we found the boundary data wasn't available at a lower level and the political system got more complex so we needed extra advice from our partners. The goal would be to get the data in shape so that a team of data enterers can match the Facebook profile data to the people and ideally get the data into wikidata too.

Once the investigation is done and we know what we're dealing with in terms of data then it's likely to work out as about another week to two weeks of work matching and putting data into wikidata. We will have a budget for this but we're not sure yet how much as we're still discussing the payments. Previously we've offered partners around $8000 USD for the work but due to the short notice of this we are hoping to get a little more from our clients which we will be able to pass on.

My colleague Matt, who is copied in here, will be able to explain a little more about the wikidata elements and what we need there. Please do let us know if you think this could be possible :)

Many thanks

Nice to meet you, Jen!

Clkao, thank you for introducing me.

I copied Testuya-san, who is ex CTO of the 選挙ドットコム (http://go2senkyo.com/ , a portal site providing election information).
選挙.com has such data but the data is not open and we can't join development process.
So Code for Japan started a discussion to start a project which collects past activities and policy of the candidates of coming election.

I'm really interested in this opportunity because having a collaboration with mySociety is a good idea to our project for involving media partners. If we can say that this is a global project and supported by mySociety, it makes easier to give them a reason to join us.

This is a memo of our goal and thoughts.

What kind of collaboration would be possible, do you think?
