To register for the ‘Printmarking meet up’, Please book in advance via instgram message. # Group Introduction Print and Carve Dept. (2019-)is an artivism collective. We invite people to participate in discussions about social issues through co-creation of art, and to support the communities and ideas we care about through collective art creation. We organize collective printmaking workshops, focusing on social issues, including forced eviction, migrant workers' rights and Human Rights, transitional justice, gender issues, and labor rights. The goal of collective printmaking is to reach out to communities and groups, inviting people to collaborate on creative projects. Through D.I.T., we implement ‘collective self-expression’ and ‘control over artistic interpretation,’ exploring and experimenting with the possibilities of collective creation while deepening public participation, exchange, and interaction on issues relevant to Taiwan and the international community. Every Thursday, we hold ‘Print Gathering’ in Taipei's Zhongshan area, a Café called Beifongshe, with about 10 mobile members participating each time. In addition to regular gatherings, we also collaborates with NGO and social issue groups, including: TIWA (Taiwan International Workers Association), TISM (Taiwan International Students Movement), DCU (Domestic Caretaker Union), etc. Our members are Liao Shin-yun, Pang Liang-hsuan, Tai Yun-jie, Huang Yu-ling and Yiva Lee. 印刻部除定期聚會,並與不同社會議題團體合作,包含:TIWA(台灣國際勞工協會)、TISM(境外生權益小組)、DCU(桃園市家庭看護工職業工會)等。 ![537960284_1455278262259046_7006034314181486056_n](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/S1bAUljYeg.jpg) photo credit:Gabriel Antonio Solis --- Short Version Print & Carve Dept. consists mainly of Liao Shin-yun, Pang Liang-hsuan, Tai Yun-jie, Huang Yu-ling and Yiva Lee. They are dedicated to engaging with and addressing social issues through artistic initiatives, often partnering with various social groups to hold printmaking workshops that foster consensus and communication. By adopting a socially critical perspective, they explore themes such as land resettlement, transitional justice, labor and non-citizen rights, as well as gender equality. They highlight the importance of collaborative creation to involve communities and cultivate a sense of “collective self-expression” and “control over artistic interpretation.” Since its establishment in 2019, the group has actively exchanged ideas with printmaking action groups in Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, and Malaysia. They have also collaborated with various social organizations, including the Taiwan International Workers’ Association, the Taiwan International Student Movement, and the Domestic Caretaker Union based in Taoyuan. # Print & Carve Dept.
