Chapter I. Preliminary

Short title, extent, and commencement

1. (1) This Act may be called the X Act, 2019.

Amending and repealing bills can omit subsections (2) and (3) of this Section.

(2) It extends to the whole of India.

or alternatively-

(2) It extends to the whole of India except the states of X, X, and the Union Territory of X.

or alternatively

(2) It extends to the whole of India:
Provided that the provisions of this Act so far as they relate to X shall not be applicable in the State[s] and Union Territory[/ies] of X.

[Provided further that the provisions of this Act extends to the whole of India, including its territorial waters, continental shelf, exclusive economic zone, and other marine zones of India as defined under the Territorial Waters, Continental Shelf, Exclusive Economic Zone, and Other Maritime Zones Act, 1976.]

(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint[,and different dates may be appointed for different provisions ofthis Code and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision.].

Definitions

2. (1) In this Act, unless context otherwise requires,-

(a) "epic gamer" means a natural person who plays a computer game to a high level of skill.

(b) "computer game" refers to a computer programme in the meaning of Section 2(ffc) of the Copyright Act, 1957 that is designed to provide entertainment to its user.

(c) "high level of skill" means a high achievement in skills in a certain area certified by federal or state exam authorities.
