# Yearn.finance - UX Review (x48)
## Key user interface use cases (post deposit)
### Past earnings
- How much have I earned
- Show historical earnings normalized to USD/ETH (vaults)
- Total (top of page)
- Per vault (vault row)
- How has my portfolio changed over time
- Show graph of portfolio earnings over time
- Total
- Per vault
- How has each asset performed
- Show graph of historical vault earnings over time
### Present earnings
- How much am I earning currently ($/week) (vault)
- Show balance-weighted aggregate APY normalized to USD/ETH (vaults/dashboard)
- Total
- Per vault
- How much do I have deposited (what is my current position)
- Show vault balance normalized to USD/ETH
- Order vaults by normalized vault balance (high value vault shown first)
- Show vaults a user has deposited in separate from a list of opportunities (don't group deposits with investment opportunities)
### Future earnings
- How much do I expect to earn based on my current position
- Show estimated earnings per week based on aggregate APY
- What are good investment opportunities
- What is the risk vs reward
- Show whether or not the vault token is a stable coin
- Allow users to quickly find vaults that match tokens they hold
- Allow users to find highest APY stablecoin vault
- Allow users to find highest APY vault in general
- Allow users to filter vaults by tags
- Suggest opportunities to users rather than showing them a giant list of derivative vaults
- Allow users to enter any vault with ETH or stablecoins
- Show a description of what each vault/strategy does
- Show a chart for each strategy
## Feedback on launch version of Yearn.finance website
### Splash page feedback
- Minimal useful information (does not earn its click)
- Ticker is cheesy and generally agreed upon to be bad UX
- hurt my eyes and do not scream "serious/professional"
- Blocks don't resize well (how are they supposed to resize?)
- Would prefer to ditch blocks for a professional look like compound/the graph/synthetic
- All these sites share a somewhat cookie cutter formula
- Panel one: brief description/nice picture/enter button
- Panel two: useful information, maybe a chart or diagram
- Panel three: partners
- Panel four: footer
- Stacked design
- Splash page gets in the way of me accomplishing what I want to do.. use the website
- Would prefer regressive design here like Zapper
- Only show splash page when your wallet is not connected
- Super annoying on uniswap/sushiswap how I don't land on the page I want to use 100% of the time and instead have to use a weird subdomain
- Menu blends in with background of splash page
### Vaults page feedback
- It's not clear I am supposed to click on a vault
- The only indication is the arrow on the right
- We hide deposit/withdraw buttons from the user.. why?
- It's difficult to find vaults I've deposited into (have vault balance)
- It's difficult to find vaults I'm able to deposit into (have token balance)
- What is a vault? I just want to earn money and I bought ethereum
- Integrate with zap contract
- What is "version" and why should I care
- Why do some APYs say N/A?
- Total assets should be normalized to USD/ETH
- I don't have any pricing info on tokens, how could I determine which vaults have more money in them?
- How much have I deposited in USD/ETH?
- Total
- Per vault
- How much have I earned in USD/ETH?
- Total
- Per vault
- How do I get the token needed to earn the high APY I see?
- Use sushiswap/uniswap (have to know about them first)
- What does "growth" mean?
- Over what time period?
- Maybe "ROI" is better
- Need to implement tool tips or info about ROI
- Have designs
- Don't have time
- Available to deposit is too verbose
- Current vault statistics are useless for most people
- I have no way to link to a vault
- Vaults should have their own independent page (ditch accordion)
- Show user vault balance over time
- Show historical transactions from user (deposits, withdraws)
- Anton's site does this
- We don't have pagination
- What if there are 500 vaults?
- Experimental tab
- What is going on here?
- Why should I trust these vaults
- What is the risk
- Why is the interface different from production vaults?
- Why are you showing me code
- What are all these buttons
- What is all this information
- 🔪 Cut developer version of experimental vaults
- Utilize production UX for experimental vaults
- Add a new "custom" section for developer vaults
- Only enable custom section with konami code
### Cover page feedback
#### Dashboard
- What are all these squares? (what is cover)
- Mobile users should not have to scroll through 50 pages
- Show assets the user has with the option to discover other protocols
- Don't show the user the entire world of possibilities
- Card view is not going to work here (way too many assets, more coming soon)
- What would this look like with 1,000 protocols?
- It says "covered" on cover dashboard on an asset but, for how much?
- How much in USD/ETH?
- Why are we showing address on cover dashboard?
#### Protocol view
- I have to wade through too much text every time I want to buy or sell cover
- Put the help text in a "help" or "more info" section
- Maybe walk user through using cover on their first time
- The floating box on the right is confusing
- How is it related to the box on the left?
- Why are they separate?
- Buy and sell should not be flat on the same page if each of them takes up an entire view port
- Purchasing or selling cover on mobile is confusing
- I have to scroll through pages of text to get to the deposit button
- I lose context of where I am after I scroll off the first page
- I have to scroll up and down to buy or sell
- It's not clear to me I can sell cover at first glance because sell is obscured
#### Menu
- I can't see what high level item I have selected (am in yield section or cover)
- Would prefer no drop-down menu
- How do I get to "vaults?"
- What is yield? (earn..)
- What does "cover" mean? (insurance..)
- Hover color too bright
- Hover area should be the whole width of the dropdown
------
# External Feedback
## Use Cases
- I want to understand if there are any fees and what they are
- I want to see what assets & the expected actions I have to take to deposit into a vault + the same for withdrawal (make the UI user-friendly please)
- I want to see user-friendly numbers on the vault stats page
- I want to see what assets I get when I deposit something into a vault + their approximate APY
- I want to sort vaults by different columns
- I want to know how and when I can withdraw my funds
- I want a way to predict how much gas it will cost to deposit and withdraw e.g. a predicted annual return minus expected gas costs.
- I want to see how much the full gas cost would be to deposit and withdraw from each vault for the full route from USD/ETH to yToken - for example USDC to Comp, cUSDC to Curve, Curve to Yearn. Bonus points would be to suggest a time of the day or week that would be most gas efficient.
- I want to be able to see when an APY has recently changed a lot - e.g. if a vault is 'boosted' temporarily
- I want to understand how APY can change over time
- I want to be able to organize vaults based on their APY over various time horizons (i.e. sort vault performance based on daily, weekly, monthly, YTD, or annaul APY)
- I want an easy way to get more info on the underlying Assets. I want to know what some of these less known Assets (like crvUSDN or crvDUSD) are and why I should hold them (I'm not going to want to put an asset in a Vault when I'm not convinced that the Asset has value in the first place).
- I want to know how the Yearn Vault APYs compare to APYs of other protocols, and I want to understand why they are higher (more risky, and if so, how)
- I want to know how long a given Vault/Strategy has been in operation (Lindy effect)
- I want to know what Cover does NOT cover (if that's possible/realistic)
- I want to see my Vault balances on a percentage-of-total-holdings basis
- I want to know how strategists and other technical members of the team involved in strategy development would classify each vault strategy in a brief description with words that should make sense to most end users--words like "passive", "leveraged", etc., instead of using terms that don't necessarily make sense to most users (i.e. Backscratcher)
- I want to see Vaults separated into Categories, based upon common characteristics of the Vaults (i.e. "Passive USD", "Leveraged ETH", etc.)
- I want to see why a given Experimental Vault is still deemed to be in experimenatl phase, based on predetermined acceptance criteria (i.e. 2 out of 3 audits completed, x amount of time in experimentation versus y amount of uptime required before considered worthy for product, etc.)
- I want to see my Total Asset Value of my connected wallet at the top of the dashboard (not only Total Asset Value deposited in Yearn Vaults), and percentage of Total Asset Value deposited in Yearn Vaults relative to my Total Asset Value held in the wallet (see Stake DAO...good interface)
- I want to see a chart showing if $10,000 worth of a given Asset were to be purchased at t = 0, how would that Asset have performed not in a Yearn Vault versus in a Yearn Vault (overlay both charts), over various time horizons (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, YTD, 1 year, etc).
- I want to be able to overlay charts showing price performance of $10,000 worth of an Asset deposited into a Yearn Vault versus $10,000 worth of ETH (and maybe DPI) yielding 0 interest over time. Think of this like how you see price charts of specific stocks or mutual funds overlaid with the S&P500, Nasdaq, or other Equity Indices, to show how that stock/fund performed relative to the Index (which is typically a less risky investment than the stock/fund)
- I want to be told, as a first-time Vaut user, that I will have the ability to withdraw my deposit at any time after depositing into a Vault.
- I want to understand the big-picture difference(s) between v1 and v2 Vaults, why v1 Vaults are inferior, and why I should ever consider opting into a v1 Vault when there's a v2 Vault counterpart that is available for use (not in Experimenation but Production-ready).
- I want to see a projection of how much i would earn over a period time if i deposit to a given vault with estimated APY
- Given that my connected wallet has USDC and DAI i would like the site to detect and point me to where i can invest them as a suggestion
- I want to see the deposit field greyed out with a 'connect wallet' CTA when looking at a vault before I have connected my wallet. Currently there is no deposit field which adds uncertainty about whether one is at the right place. After you connect wallet it appears.
- I want more context for numbers. Vaults total assets field for ETH says 22k. 22k what? ETH? USD? Never assume people know things. And why use "Total Assets" when everyone uses AUM or TVL?
- I want way more context for any chart. Label both axes way more clearly. The first chat for the ETH stats view is labelled "available" what does that mean? What does the x-axis mean? 11.39? I have no idea what that is.

## General feedback
- Main use case is either deposit or withdraw, should be less than 3 clicks away for any user, second use case is check balance IMO
- New things that we want users to see should be discoverable or highlighted somehow
