Maintainers recommendation: EMG-BEP can move forward with `emg` Data type and modality 2. BEPS nearly ready (discuss timeline with Steering) - BEP 042: EMG - BEP 038: Atlas - BEP 020: Eye-tracking - BEP 024: CT - BEP 028: Provenance - BEP 036: Phenotypic Data Guidelines? - BEP 044: Stimuli ### Focus 1. Review materials to start consensus on Yahya's [Issue 2108](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2108) (dataset type/modality) Reference: - Modality and data types discussion(s) - [Issue #2108](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/2108) - [Oscar’s proposal](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-website/pull/670/files) - [Yahya’s proposal](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2135) - Eric, Oscar, Yahya are going to start a working group to work on this. - EMG-BEP can move forward with `emg` Data type and modality. 2. [Copenhagen meeting follow-ups/to-dos](https://hackmd.io/JLMh7W-hQPWeKE3lNsEhcw?both#Action-items-from-Copenhagen-meeting) - Add your name to the table if you haven't 3. Schedule/Plan a BEP Review-a-thon in ~Dec ### Follow-ups 1. Should [hcp2bids](https://github.com/suyashdb/hcp2bids) be forked into bids-standard ? The main benefits would be for us to: - maintain the code along with BIDS updates ; - provide a proper python package on PyPI ; - improve documentation and testing. 2. Communication on BEP integration for BIDS v1.11.0 action items: - possible BEPs should be messaged about timeline and being released together - Community should be warned that multiple BEP reviews are coming and please be ready 3. Soliciting nominations for steering ([Process doc](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pcUysEGPRb4R9b4MZCPKxI6ODJVUqeFVw-T7WtAal9g/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.wkzdvfyymx5y)) ### Maintainer Updates **Please do only 1 or 2 small/important updates this week, if any at all.** - **Eric** - Another BIDS Working Group is in order for "making the process better for BEP leads". Who wants in? - **Christine** (request while I'm on vacation) - Sept 11 Steering: Can anyone go to this at 9am EDT? I have a conflict, please bump me to the next Steering (early am) in October. - Chris is going to take this slot - **Chris** - [1.10.1 milestone](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/milestone/17) - If we have time, can we triage? - ## 2025 Aug 20 WEST Lead: Present: Absent: Guests: none ### Steering requests ### Focus ### Follow-ups ### Maintainer Updates ## 2025 Aug 7 EAST (9am EDT) Lead: Ross Present: Eric, Ross, Yahya, Chris, Anthony, Taylor Absent: Boris Guests: none ### Steering requests - Are there governance updates needed to be up for vote at the election? We are about to solicit new steering group members. ### Focus Last 10 minutes: review materials to start consensus on Yahya's [Issue 2108](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2108) (dataset type/modality) (next meeting: Copenhagen follow-ups) ### Follow-ups - question from Kim/Steering in [Mattermost, July 31](https://mattermost.brainhack.org/brainhack/channels/bids_steer_and_maintain/qfpirk9roj86idunzaih3hn7ge) - WRT help desk at ebrains summit - any rough Help desk metrics would help if we want to make persuasive argument for funding. - Answer to steering: There will be representation at EBRAINS Summit, so the value add for a proper help desk is questionable. We won't seek funding. Could still do a help-desk if Eric, Franco, or whoever else BIDS is there (travel funded from elsewhere) ### Maintainer Updates - Christine - Validator warnings events.tsv not found but then it is found https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-validator/issues/213 - Ross will take a look - How are these meeting timings going? - what if we move the East meeting to 10am 1 week later? Better to keep in this week and timeslot. - West meeting notes - discussion re night before East meeting - No one wants to change the time right now - Copenhagen followups (just generally) - ideally followups get assigned before end of August. - to do: Focus next Aug East meeting is Copenhagen follow-ups and action item assignments - Taylor - Steering group call: - Yarik would like to move to www.bids-standard.org. Steering group says yes. - INCF is happening _after_ EBRAINS at same venue(?). Cyril brought up BIDS presence. - Cyril and Franco are going to be there. Rather than spend the money to fly a maintainer out there, Cyril would rather keep it to use for a maintainers meeting next year. - Camille: Not clear what event will look like and what BIDS presence they expect. Based on current understanding, Cyril and Franco should be enough, but they will reach out. - A table is not being discussed. Cyril+Franco want to do a poster or talk instead. - Re datatype discussion- Cyril wants to know what the maintainers think. Franco proposes that the decision be made by either the maintainers or the community. Kim asked the SG to look at the existing issue and PRs and bring their succinct points to the next meeting. - ~~Could be decided via poll during steering election~~ - Or sentiment analysis of existing issues to see what involved community members think. Reference: - [ ] modality and data types discussion - [Issue #2108](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/2108) - [Oscar’s proposal](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-website/pull/670/files) - [Yahya’s proposal](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2135) - Boris - I was wondering if [hcp2bids](https://github.com/suyashdb/hcp2bids) should be forked into bids-standard ? The main benefits would be for us to: - maintain the code along with BIDS updates ; - provide a proper python package on PyPI ; - improve documentation and testing. - Chris - Mark Mikkelsen (BIDS-MRS) is interested in helping maintain BIDS-MATLAB. What needs doing to make that happen? - Remi has reached out to him (cc'ing me) and I believe this no longer needs our attention - BEPs - Ready or nearly ready for review: - BEP 038: Atlas - BEP 020: Eye-tracking - BEP 028: Provenance - BEP 036: Phenotypic Data Guidelines? - BEP 044: Stimuli? - (Eric) Communication on BEP integration action items: - possible BEPs should be messaged about timeline and being released together - Community should be warned that multiple BEP reviews are coming and please be ready - Should we cut a 1.10.1 release before starting to merge BEPs for 1.11.0? (I think yes) - [Milestone](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/milestone/17) - #1964 most important. None of them should be blocking. - Which BEP(s) should be in 1.11? - Time to start soliciting nominations for steering - Do we have a pre-written announcement document? - [Process doc](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pcUysEGPRb4R9b4MZCPKxI6ODJVUqeFVw-T7WtAal9g/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.wkzdvfyymx5y) - Anthony will follow up with Boris to get this going, will check in with Chris as he fails to move things along. - Yahya - Discussion on [Issue 2108](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2108) (dataset type/modality) (follow up from last meeting and Taylors' recap of Steering Meeting) - Is there consensus on using `recording` entity for having multiple streams of the same data modality ([PR 2090](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2090)) - CJM/JKP: Looks like the consensus is there. Oscar's complaints are kind of procedural and wrong, not objections to the actual proposal. - Agreed to add to BIDS version 1.10.1 - was circulated to BIDS community, not a lot of uptake - Ross - Bep036 testing branches - https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-validator/tree/fix/schema_fs_load - https://github.com/rwblair/bids-specification/tree/bep036_test_selectors - Will run against OpenNeuro using Eric's old schema vs legacy testing code. - Eric - BEP036 talking more today during schema hack - Anthony - Will train/hand-off/co-work election prep to one of our new maintainers ## 2025 August 6th WEST (8PM ET) Lead: Present: Chris, Julia Guests: none ### Julia - is finally starting to tackle the website stuff discussed in Copenhagen - I'm getting in contact with Yarik regarding switching to bids-standard.org - finally getting back to work on BEP 020 finalization ## 2025 July 31 WEST (8PM ET) Lead: Anthony Present: Anthony, Chris, Ashley Guests: none Moved meeting to Wednesday 8pm ET, 13 hours before EAST meeting. Night-before seems like a good idea to try. - [ ] Ashley: Fix PyBIDS ## 2025 July 24 WEST (8pm ET) Lead: Anthony Present: Anthony, Ashley Guests: none ### Focus - Getting into the swing of things and handing context over to our new maintainer (Ashley) #### Ashley - Follow-up on pybids / bids2table - Schema deep dive -> help review https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2133 ## 2025 July 24 EAST (9am ET) Lead: Eric Present: Eric, Christine, Ross, Taylor, Anthony, Boris, Yahya Absent: Chris, Ashley, Nell, Julia, Kim Guests: none ### Focus - New meeting host needed (Switch back to rotating lead?) - Christine or Anthony or Ross or Taylor - Taylor has to leave at 45 minutes after the hour usually - Who is this time not working for in the East group? - Nell - Onboarding - how’s it going for all? - New Names still to be added on website? - What’s up with the West / Schema meeting? - Anthony+Ashley+Chris to set a time, alternating weeks - Schema meeting is Ross+Nell+Chris, co-working typically ### Action items - [ ] [Copenhagen action items](https://hackmd.io/JLMh7W-hQPWeKE3lNsEhcw?both#Action-items-from-Copenhagen-meeting) review - [ ] review of the modality and data types discussion before August 7th - [Issue #2108](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/2108) - [Oscar’s proposal](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-website/pull/670/files) - [Yahya’s proposal](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2135) - [ ] Add your comments on maintainer's meeting format to [Copenhagen Reflections](https://hackmd.io/JLMh7W-hQPWeKE3lNsEhcw#Copenhagen-reflections) - [ ] Taylor to set up a BEP041 meeting with Cyril - Items for next Steering meeting (July 31) - Maintainers are back to regular meetings after on-boarding Ashley, Boris, and Yahya - Maintainers would like steering to weigh in on the modality and data types discussion - EBRAINS Summit BIDS Help Desk funding for Christine? - From the town hall: steering should continue Ariel's work to try getting "BIDS datasets" to pass the BIDS validator for published papers ### Maintainer updates See items through mid-June below #### Boris - "What's up with PyBIDS?" - There are alternatives like bids2table and ancp-bids because PyBIDS has large memory problems with big datasets #### Yahya - **[BEP044](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2022)** needs some love (Review by Maintainers), and move it to Proposed BEPs list on BIDS Website ([BIDS-Website#646](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-website/pull/646)) - What is the reuslt of the discussion regarding Criteria for DataType and Modality ([Issue #2108](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/2108)) - Oscar’s proposal: https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-website/pull/670/files - Yahya’s proposal: https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2135 #### Christine INCF assembly is bundled with EBRAINS in December (in Europe). - Who's likely to go? Eric, maybe Anthony - Christine mentioned to Cyril she could go run a BIDS booth if funded Moving the meetings - followups from last week: - ~~Who can update the When to Meet? And create a second one?~~ - ~~check if the credential is in the BIDS OnePassword @anthony~~ - Note-taking – do East & West notes go in the same hackmd? - **YES, same doc for now** Town Hall post-mortem and followup - Please add your comments to [what we missed and how would we prepare differently next year](https://hackmd.io/oihJbKLQTnWhI7t7dN1l1g#Thoughts-for-next-time-updates-we-missed) - e.g. Add a presentation slide/section: `Asks from the Maintainers` - reach out if stuck, would like more Maintainers, would like more volunteers. - (Ross) BEP leads should: broaden their own community - go get more community input AND recruit people "outside" the BIDS community - Send out the Maintainers Minute (asks) when we publish notes / video? yes. - [Status of Followups](https://hackmd.io/oihJbKLQTnWhI7t7dN1l1g#Thoughts-for-next-time-updates-we-missed) public notes, recording etc - Eric to announce meeting notes wrap and inclusion on BIDS Website along with maintainers asks last copenhagen meta-followup: pasting from June 26 notes below - completing the metrics / activity recap - so far they are in: https://github.com/openneuropet/outreach/issues/52 - Eric - they are complete e.g. 11 prs merged, 4/14 cph issues closed * ~~Would be nice to make an activity-density graph like [this](https://www.nipreps.org/assets/20240502_versionstream.png) for activity across repositories/subsections, such as spec, schema, validator, website.~~ * skipping for now * Summary of merged PRs (week of meeting): https://github.com/search?q=org%3Abids-standard+merged%3A2025-06-09..2025-06-14&type=pullrequests&s=updated&o=desc #### Anthony - Australian maintainers meeting (Anthony, Ashley, and Chris will set the date/time) - No updates on BEP 023 (focus is on generating derivatives and hammering out the specs) - BEP024 is also [slowly moving along](https://github.com/Hboni/bids-specification/pull/3/files) - Need is clear that "working with the schema docs" is required. Eric is leading. - We are working out a new schedule to accomodate new maintainers across timezones. ### Maintainers updates see also previous maintainer updates from the last 2 meetings we didn't get to cover (christine asking about followups) - No responses so far in Yahya's Survey re [new data type criteria](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1KKMqQ0Py52jouEnmEKL9JBYjwZ3sMCgNFvLzCBq0kWk/edit). Some responses in [the Issue](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/2108). - next steps? Maintainers discuss, is this a clarification or a BEP (Oscar)? Is there consensus? Yahya to raise at next meeting ### Copenhagen reflections Anthony: +1day more to work on a BEP next time would be good - successful, goals achieved and included more europeans - dedicated coffee machines were key Nell: format and length were good, balance of discussion vs working time was good Yahya: [issue 52](https://github.com/openneuropet/outreach/issues/52) is great for tracking what was done CR: good format, block for PRs was good - could do more: distributing notetaking, setting action items, thinking ahead re track PRs/issues/productivity from meeting, maybe compressing agenda-setting - interesting governance point on decisions made based on attendees in the room Eric: Overall I found it very valuable and good, but I do have some critiques. - Agreed with Anthony there should be minimum 1.5 days dedicated to helping BEPs get unstuck. Seattle meeting had more of this. - Agreed with Nell the balance of discussion and working time was good, though I think more working time would be even better - "Decisions" made in this meeting should be brought to the community afterward, perhaps as a meeting summary provided to contributors after the fact with room for further online discussion - Perhaps similar to the OHBM Brainhacks, we should have "train vs hack tracks" except ours would be "Discuss vs Co-work tracks". The discussions held in-person were very valuable, but often didn't require everyone in the room. Big discussions should be opt-in or phone-a-friend style instead of opt-out by leaving the room or ignoring the discussion. - I found the no "meals and incidental expenses" reimbursement restrictive and less enjoyable. That said, I know I wasn't there for tourism. It just would have been nice to not have to eat meals all in the hotel to save on my out-of-pocket costs. ## 2025 July 3 Lead: Eric Attendees: Eric, Christine, Yahya, Anthony Apologies: Guests: Focus: Housekeeping part 2 post-Copenhang ### Action Items - [ ] Announce BIDS Town Hall on channels [Draft announcement doc here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LFKGWrd6-kdx8M3yEI6GA0g-7bCOQUUyfqsXXtHxSK4/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.scb9ieg8ray6) - [done] review and edit together - Further announcements of BIDS town hall - [ ] BIDS Website news section - discuss if we want to (re)use it? - [ ] Schedule regular maintainers meetings again - [ ] Document exact next steps of (? post-CPH action items?) - [ ] Add [this](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/1972) to the regular maintainers meeting for follow up -- between Chris/Yarik, especially ### Priority followups: housekeeping continued - Meeting schedule - Anthony+Ashley+Chris: M, W, or R 830pm or 9pm EDT start? - Anthony votes for WED - Everybody else: T or R 9am EDT start? - Nell can't make either of those times - Still gonna meet at the regular time 1pm Thursday July 10 -- then we switch to the new schedule Virtual BIDS townhall Wed July 16 **11am ET** /5pm Copenhagen time - June [OHBM recording](https://www.crowdcast.io/c/osr-round-table-1) and [Eric's notes]( https://hackmd.io/oihJbKLQTnWhI7t7dN1l1g) - Eric hosting, Christine co-hosting as backup (and BEPs) - - Eric covers everything but the BEP slides - - Christine: BEP slides (recording at 40:50) - Eric contacted OSSIG for host credentials/info - Notetaker needed in session - [Slides](https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Z42otXqvvo0t061XGtgRaOo2eVQRMBkcF0L_ZjS8Vzw/edit?slide=id.g134fb2ea9f4_3_0&pli=1#slide=id.g134fb2ea9f4_3_0) minorly updated today w 2 pts from OHBM (incl [Yarik's mm]((https://mattermost.brainhack.org/brainhack/pl/ruo8q6ydib8pjd4dro1gwyz8mh))) - Eric to re-review slides and add speaker notes Comms --- - First email blast and bluesky have gone out - Eric will drop the links in Mattermost so people can give them a boost. Two or three people have reached out to Anthony over linkedin oddly enough following his presentation. (He will not be sharing that trainwreck of a powerpoint) - Reproschema: is getting the full support BIDS via Eric and Anthony, goal is to collect protocol/phentypic data and directly export to bids valid data - Question: Subject only validation via the validator? Easy PR? Or easier hack with temp folders and copying over datasetdescription.json etc? - PET Derivatives BEP: Where should PET derivatives schema/rule data go? `schema/rules/sidecars/derivatives`? or `schema/rules/sidecars/pet.yaml` ** Eric ** [OHBM Town Hall notes here ](https://hackmd.io/oihJbKLQTnWhI7t7dN1l1g) ** Christine ** - what's the plan for next town hall? who can make it? - Any notes from Steering as to what should be presented / asked / captured? i e better than at OHBM - getting the word out is key - who can help w socials and email blasts? Meals should be billed to your rooms if you want them reimbursed. - will cab from the airport be covered? ppl are rolling straight off the flight to the meeting, it's not a direct route by transit. - No, Cyril made a nice "Getting to the hotel from CPH" instructions MD file [here](https://github.com/openneuropet/outreach/blob/main/BIDS_maintainers2025/location.md). - - Updates from Yahya - may join maintainers - has some agenda thoughts in CPH - 1. Psych-DS has made good progress. They're going to coordinate with Eric because of BEP036 and may be bringing Psych-DS datasets to BIDS or BIDS tabular phenotypes to Psych-DS. 2. **Response to MED regarding new format**: Camille and Dora are going to re-open this as an asynchronous discussion on the Mattermost ~bids_steer_and_maintain. 3. **OHBM Business**: Eric to talk with James Kent about what BIDS they want at the OHBM OSR in Brisbane. Maybe "A speaker to present on the current state of BIDS. Are there any members going to OHBM and would be willing to give an accessible overview for the current state of BIDS? This will be the first opening event for the Open Science Room." Might be Kim since her and Franco are going. 4. **Maintainers need more members recruited**: First small asks before big invites, BUT we maintainers need to update the website with a description of the minimum commitment/expectations as well as benefits and reasons to join. Yarik started [bids-spec issue 2113 here](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/2113) as well. - not quickly findable - Julia is going to take care of this 6. Cyril was NOT at the steering group meeting because he lost track of time. Eric met with him separately after the steering group meeting later in the day: - Cyril will post the attendees to the GitHub markdown page soon. Sounds like 10 maintainers and steering folks in total and maybe 6 others for day 1. - Peer and Oscar cannot make it in-person, maybe available remotely for some discussions. - Cyril booked rooms with the hotel and, supposedly, it's in a block of names and we tell them our name when we show up to get our room. - Cyril is checking with Ariel on per diem/M&IE for small costs incurred while traveling. - Cyril made a nice "Getting to the hotel from CPH" instructions MD file [here](https://github.com/openneuropet/outreach/blob/main/BIDS_maintainers2025/location.md). - Cyril's thoughts on the EBRAINS and other day 1 agenda are not written down publicly yet, but they will be. ### Standing Items #### PRs needing review or `help wanted` * PRs with [needs review](https://github.com/search?q=org%3Abids-standard+label%3A%22needs+review%22+is%3Aopen&type=pullrequests) label * - just needs one more review! Note these are [TOSI award](https://www.mcgill.ca/neuro/open-science/open-science-awards-and-prizes/neuro-irv-and-helga-cooper-foundation-open-science-prizes) funds, so no time limit on spending. * Camille proposes an OHBM-attached meeting in 2026, in France. * Cardiac BEP * Solicit email from BEP leads with basic: * Who is proposing the BEP? * What are the overall goals of the BEP? * What is the state of standards in the cardiac field? (what will have to be interoperable with, from that field) * Why should this be in BIDS? * Are there recommended experts who can review the BEP for issues of completeness, if the BIDS community lacks the competence? * Dora wants some sort of statement of philosophy that explains why this should be BIDS. I think that's covered by the above, but for the record. * email to bids.steering@gmail.com * Steering to reach out to other standards groups (SPARC, GA4GH) to understand their philosophies and approaches to requests to expand scope. * BEP45 (Physio) * Steering received an email wanting guidance on next steps. * Remi had been guiding, but the ball may have been dropped * Yarik restarting conversations * MED format * Steering has email address * Franco had some suggestions to soften the text. * Chris: Several contribution guidelines are distributed throughout the BEP guide, but might be better as their own page. * Requesting decisions * Mattermost is bad for this purpose * **Email to steering is preferable, at least 1 week, ideally 2 weeks before a meeting** * In many cases, the decision may be able to be made over email, or clarification could be requested ### Rémi support last Thursday, 3/27 Rémi going on a hiatus. We encourage you to join us in drafting the manuscript, which you can find here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SRxyt3Yc92m8lBSlgX-bLIYeIE8VYhtL/edit Our manuscript presents Eye-Tracking-BIDS, an extension that provides guidelines for storing gaze position, pupil data, and other relevant metadata from eye-trackers. This will enhance reproducibility and facilitate the development of automated BIDS-Apps for eye-tracking data. Indeed, by participating in the draft of the manuscript, we hope you will be able to contribute to the review of the BEP once the official pull request is available. In the meantime, you can find it here: https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/1128 We look forward to your input and collaboration on this important project! [CMR-BIDS BEP](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/2011) conceptual approval Process: Maintainers would like to make Conceptual Approval step efficient. * Does Steering always prefer a Meeting Item vs. a Mattermost ask? #### Steering group questions * Cyril: Is there a way to simplify required fields when alternatives are there. Three examples fields from curating MP2RAGE * **MAINTAINERS ANSWER**: Should be the job of the BIDS converter. Though send to the discussion list instead of asking Maintainers directly. 1. [NumberShots](https://bids-specification.readthedocs.io/en/stable/appendices/qmri.html#numbershots-metadata-field). The BIDS documentation points to a matlab function that acknowledges this field is often missing and suggests assigning the ReconMatrixPE value https://github.com/JosePMarques/MP2RAGE-related-scripts/blob/a405df30ac2c617d29d8b1b16025aaa911e86370/func/bids_T1B1correct.m#L16. If ReconMatrixPE is a suitable surrogate, why require the NumberShots field? or if ReconMatrixPE available no need to have NumberShots 2. [RepetitionTimeExcitation](https://bids-specification.readthedocs.io/en/stable/appendices/qmri.html#other-metadata-fields). Related topic: https://github.com/rordenlab/dcm2niix/issues/439. Again, BIDS documentation acknowledges that this is often not found in the DICOM files. The documentation indicates this field value is equivalent to EchoSpacing and if missing, 2 times EchoTime can be used as a surrogate. Same logic as before. If this is equivalent to EchoSpacing, could it work to require one or the other of these two fields? 3. [RepetitionTimePreparation](https://bids-specification.readthedocs.io/en/stable/glossary.html#repetitiontimepreparation-metadata). Conversations going back to 2020 mention this field (https://github.com/bids-standard/bep001/issues/88). Again, it is acknowledged that this is commonly absent from DICOM files, yet there is little support for how to assign this parameter in the common instance of its absence. I have no idea where this can be found. This is mentioned once in the spec without definition (only in the table https://bids-specification.readthedocs.io/en/stable/appendices/qmri.html#anatomy-imaging-data) maybe the glossary can copy/paste info on that field from qmrilab (rather than only link, which we can control if it will stay that link https://qmrlab.readthedocs.io/en/master/protocols.html#mp2rage). Interestingly, the schema (https://bids-specification.readthedocs.io/en/stable/glossary.html#repetitiontimepreparation-metadata) says minimum 0 (which I interpret as do not need present ??) but it is mandatory for MP2RAGE and not for other much longer 4D time series (DWI, fMRI, ASL). Note also that this value is not used when computing the T1/R1 maps, and I such I am really doubful of the mandatoriness of this. #### PRs needing review or `help wanted` - [BIDS-Specification](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pulls?q=is%3Apr+label%3A%22needs+review%22%2C%22help+wanted%22+is%3Aopen) - [BIDS-Validator](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-validator/pulls?q=is%3Apr+label%3A%22needs+review%22%2C%22help+wanted%22+is%3Aopen) - [BIDS-Examples](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-examples/pulls?q=is%3Apr+label%3A%22needs+review%22%2C%22help+wanted%22+is%3Aopen) - [BIDS-Website](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-website/pulls?q=is%3Apr+label%3A%22needs+review%22%2C%22help+wanted%22+is%3Aopen) #### Outstanding action items - consensus around Copenhagen dates ### Maintainer Discussion Items #### Julia * Welcome! * The process of joining is patching https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/blob/master/Maintainers_Guide.md?plain=1#L12-L27 #### Christine * Validator - could it [match Task Name](https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-validator/issues/60) soon? Siemens has developed a number of TSE techniques to speed up imaging and reduce motion artifacts. [1, 2, 3] Siemens TSE techniques [1, 3] • Simultaneous Multi-Slice TSE: Acquires multiple slices simultaneously to reduce scan time [1, 3] • syngo BLADE: A motion-insensitive TSE sequence that uses inter-shot motion correction to reduce in-plane motion artifacts [2] • syngo SPACE: A single slab 3D TSE sequence that acquires high resolution 3D datasets [4] Benefits of Siemens TSE [1, 5] • Reduced scan time • Higher spatial resolution or thinner slices • Reduced patient slot times • Minimized motion artifacts • Maintained patient friendliness • Improved productivity for diffusion-weighted imaging • Enabled advanced techniques, such as pre-surgical mapping, into clinical routine • Enabled high-resolution, distortion-free DWI scans in significantly shorter time TSE can be used in either 2D or 3D mode.
