Otherwise, next step will be generating models/figures for a paper. - SPARC'd: Fixing assorted problems (build w/Java; restricting user-editable fields; following-up on data quality checks). - LLM/Rangeland Docs: Met with Nirav about chatbot to learn about LLMs in academic context; need to schedule follow-up meeting to talk about details of implementation + cost #### Other - Renata met with Osas 4/23 and handed off code ### 2024-03-13 **Osaretin Olurotimi help** - Professor in Ag and Resource Economics - Project on effects of climate on children in Uganda - Need to download climate data & wrangle - Some code from previous collaborator - She is learning R - Renata will work with her **Theresa Crimmins project** - Project plan being drafted: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EvFNFU1tLrxSgH1E0oWB2wenkYZrI92LE7dl0nxZRio/edit - Project plan doesn't include work on paper? - Slow start during March, starting to figure out data and create issues - Eric will probably be lead, Renata and Eric will hand it back and forth - Need Theresa to remind us about how to get the data to start working **Rangeland docs project** - Started as incubator using ML to classify documents - Followup funding to use LLMs *somehow* - 25k for now through september ### 2024-02-14 - Decide who would be second on rnpn incubator (and determine approximate start date) - We might delay the start of this until Jeff Switzer has more capacity and to dovetail with thermal calendars project (earlier start date) ### 2024-01-03 - Eric had an idea about the saguaro data involving citizen science, but doesn't know if its appropriate or if we already talked about it. - What more do we need to know about these projects? - New possible project #1: TRIF carbon dataset project with Dave Moore - Estimating carbon stocks and fluxes across state of Arizona - Start with stocks, have identified 10 datasets; shouldn't need to derive carbon values?; challenge is to summarize across different spatial and temporal extents and get confidence across states - Broader project covers natural, crop, and geological; wants to seek other funding to expand across North America and then globally - Start this month; other collaborators are two current grad students (Charlie Devine & someone else) + incoming postdoc - Page 2-3 of AIR proposal - New possible project #2: CASC project work with Theresa Crimmins - Part 1: calculate average and this year estimate emergence of invasive insects in the northeast; they have Python scripts to calculate these raster products, just need updated variables; they might do this - Part 2: publish 2 papers, one data publication (they have some experience with) and publication on trends across time and space; made it clear that they would need to lead the research pub; latter can be done in R if we want - Work wouldn't start until spring (April / May) or summer, they need to gather more stakeholder info - Page 9 of CASC proposal ### 2023-11-22 - Kristina needs to follow up with Dan McDonald, Theresa Crimmins, and Melissa Curran - STAC catalog moved to Done - Fish App need to solidify maintenance and other ongoing efforts ### 2023-10-25 - Moved Green Stormwater Infrastructure / Vanessa Buzzard into "in progress" -
